Tile Wholesalers is pleased to work with Oasis Design and Remodeling on so many of their projects. Their attention to design and detail is excellent. Tile Wholesalers and Oasis share the same philosophy regarding the importance of customer service and customer satisfaction in everything we do!

On time, clean, within budget and with an eye for detail that I was so impressed with. They were outstanding and I will use them for all future projects.

About four years ago we hired John Spock of Oasis Design & Remodeling to upgrade our kitchen and dining room. We were pleased with the result. We then hired him for an outside deck and were somewhat pleased with the result. We then hired him to upgrade our basement including a basement kitchen and bathroom. This project in our view was a total disaster. We had also put down a $300 deposit for an outside shed to be done after the basement was finished which we cancelled since we longer felt John was reliable or honest. We asked John for the shed deposit back but he refused even after we had paid him a total of over $135,000 for all three projects. This was very upsetting to us so I filed a small claims action against John in Perinton Town Court, Rochester and won the case resulting in John paying us the $300. I included a photo of the court judgement as part of this review. The basement remodel which cost $27,400 started in September 2014 and our expectation was that this work would take about two months. It actually took until the end of June 2015 or ten months! Part of the reason for this delay was John took on other jobs at the same time as ours and did not come regularly to our job. He would tell us he would be on the job but did not arrive as promised and sometimes he was not around for a week or more. This stretched the job out until the end of December 2014 when the job APPEARED to be complete except for a few items. In December 2014 we gave John the final payment for the job that had a total cost of $27,400. He said he would come back after Christmas to finish the job. He did return in January but did not finish everything namely the outside windows. In January the basement bathroom pipes froze since John had not insulated them properly and had not properly finished the outside windows which were letting cold air into the basement. There were numerous issues associated with the basement bathroom plumbing since the work was not done by a licensed plumber - leaky pipes, leaky toilet, improperly placed shut off valves and frozen pipes. John returned, in January, and ripped out a great deal of dry wall in order to insulate the pipes and then he left without completing anything. At this point our basement was unusable to us. I have included photos of how John left our basement for 6 months. John has told people we were away for 6 months from January through June 2015, and that is why he could not complete the work, which is not true. I have included photos of our flight itinerary showing we left Rochester on February 6 and returned April 21. John also has said we would not allow him in our house while we were gone. This is also false. We offered to allow John access to our home while we were away during this period so he could correct the problems but he refused and said that he was too busy. He said he would return in April after we got home and fix everything. We also went away in November the previous year and John did have access to our house while we were away but did little work. In spite of several requests John did not return until June 2015 to complete the work. On June 27, 2015 John finally said he was finished with the job. We had been without our basement for six months from January 2015 to end of June 2015. However the job was still not right since the toilet still leaked and I had to employ a licensed plumber to properly fix the leaky toilet as well as install proper shut off valves. Given our terrible experience with John we would NOT hire Oasis Design & Remodeling again or recommend them to others.

Comment from OasisDesign&Remodeling:
We are very sorry that the relationship with the Dorr's, dating back several years, has come to this conclusion.
Our first project with the Dorr's began with their kitchen, main floor bathroom, & extended into modifications in the dining room & entry. They had expressed a fear of contractors, having a bad experience during their remodel of their second floor master bath & bedroom. We were determined, as always, to change their experience. In fact, their kitchen remodel is here on our project list, as well as their main floor bathroom. After having completed the aforementioned projects, they hired us again to re-build their deck going out from the kitchen to their backyard pool. Once again they were very satisfied & hired us again for a remodel of the lower level. This was a space not often used by them, but it required a living space as well as another bathroom...& they had also requested a shed to be built in their backyard. Due to timing upon the signing of the contract, their 6 months spent at their condo in Hawaii, & the worst winter ever experienced in Rochester, yes, things got a little wonky with the project. We could not work in their home while they were in Hawaii...for 6 months...January to June. This Mr Dorr does not explain in his statement. No one was allowed to inside his home from January to June. This did indeed extend the project beyond ANYONE'S expectations. During that time, we of course took on other projects that we needed for our own income, seeing that we could not take monetary installments from the Dorr's project. It's impossible for a contractor to "float" a project with a minimal deposit & not be making money from that project. Due to Mr. Dorr's increasing frustration, perhaps exacerbated by his knee surgery & advanced age, the shed contract became an issue, which is reasonable. The toilet in the lower level was admittedly an issue which we tried several times to resolve. & did indeed resolve, considering the conditions. We guess that was the last straw for Mr. Dorr, who then washed his hands of us. Mr. Dorr filed 2 small claims suits. The first suit was for $770, which included the toilet repair, which was dismissed. The second suit was for $1100, of which only $300 for work we never did, was awarded to Mr. Dorr. (The deposit for the shed).
So after 7 years of over $145,000.00 in home renovations our company completed for him, a one time leaky toilet which was successfully repaired and a $300 deposit we initially offered back to him prior to his complaint, are his only complaints, & only judgment, then overall we feel we did his home a wonderful service which he and his wife will be enjoying for years. There is no reason for us to do shoddy work for a good client with a 7 yr successful relationship. There is no reason to "take them". If we didn't scam them the first time, there's no reason to do it after 7 yrs. Our goal is to exceed customer expectations. Unfortunately on this one, there were conditions beyond our control, & the court understood that.
We wish the Dorr's well & we are very proud of our work, despite our regret of the displeasure of Mr. Dorr.

Attached are before and after pix. Quite a difference and it's all due to Paula and John. They listened to our ideas and greatly improved on the design. This translated into $$ savings, as it prevented us from making costly mistakes. So grateful to have worked with such superb professionals. The quality of their workmanship is stellar but the quality of their personal character is priceless.

I've been through many contractors, both professionally and personally and have never worked with a more reliable company in my life! Both John and Paula instantly became friends, keeping close contact throughout our bathroom project, knowing exactly what we wanted, and meeting our needs right down to the tee. John's attention to detail and craftsmanship far exceeded my expectation! Why couldn't I have found Oasis Design and Remodeling when I started my home projects 20 years ago?!

John and Paula were an amazing team to work with and I would hire them again in a heartbeat! I have repeatedly referred them to all of my Real Estate clients and will continue to do so in the future! With respect to my own projects, they were with me every step of the way, offering guidance when I needed it and providing the highest level of customer service! The quality of their work is second-to-none and I have enjoyed every room/project they have done for me. Oasis Design and Remodeling has added a new IPE Deck for me, gutted a full bathroom, finished a basement playroom, and I am currently working on some additional kitchen renovations with them.
I am SO thankful that they were referred to me several years ago and I look forward to working with them on each and every project!

Our recently completed guest bathroom is simply beautiful! Their expertise in design, color selection, and construction was excellent. They listened carefully to our goals as well as our desire to be within our budget. We worked together to choose appropriate materials. John and Paula were easy to work with and stayed in constant communication throughout the project.
The result is very professional and lovely.
