I renovated my entire home with Rubin Custom Homes during the Covid 19 Pandemic. I was worried there would be delays due to the pandemic, however I was pleasantly surprised to have my home finished in just a few months. We gutted the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms as well as the main living areas. We replaced all of the cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, lighting, tiles and all flooring and trim throughout. It was a pleasure working with Dulio, Katie and the whole RCH team. They paid close attention to detail and made sure nothing was left unfinished. I was very pleased with the cabinet company and tile installers as well. Everyone did a great job. I recommended Rubin Custom Homes to others wanting to renovate their home!

UPDATE: Rubin successfully completed the contract and was paid in full on July 19, 2021. They remedied my concerns in the original review below to my satisfaction. This is a courtesy update. Thank you Rubin for completing the project in a timely manner. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We recently contracted with Rubin Homes (“RH”) for a barn foundation repair project. RH required a 50% deposit before they would mobilize, which we hesitantly paid. RH induced us into contracting with them by convincing us they have extensive experience installing foundations. But their workmanship is substandard, defective, and not in compliance with our building code. For example, on day one RH formed and poured the pad footings without allowing an inspection. After day three, RH removed the forms, and we were shocked to find the concrete at the posts were sitting on tilted 6”x6” stems without the necessary concrete pad, are tilted, and crumble to the touch. Its unclear if they used sufficient rebar. Many of the posts are not even on center of the concrete footings. We became concerned and contacted RH immediately. As we described our concerns to RH, we were informed that they would stop the Project due to our complaints, but when I stated that would be abandonment of the project, they began to research a solution. We are now waiting for the work to be corrected. RH’s experience with foundations and concrete work is questionable at best because on our Project they did not follow; (i) the building code, (ii) building industry standards. We have included pictures of RH’s workmanship for you to make your own conclusions. However, we do NOT recommend Rubin Homes.

Not long ago we completed several projects with Rubin Custom Homes. At the onset, we were lucky enough to work with Steve Rubin, who walked us through every aspect of what was involved. Steve sold the company, and because of this, he was no longer involved in the management of our project. Overall, our job was well done. Sadly, there was one issue that they could not resolve in our kitchen and recently, a very small request took weeks and several follow-up calls/emails before we had a response. The new owners need to tighten up communication within the team.

Steve Rubin and his team, from office staff to highly-skilled craftsmen, were a Godsend. After we were forced to terminate our first GC (for failing to show up and faulty work) we hired Steve who was referred by our kitchen designer, to renovate our 22 year-old kitchen. On the very first day, we were given a printed timetable (by day) of the work to be performed. Tradesmen showed up on time, the quality of their work was top-notch, and assignments were completed on schedule. Every single person who came through our door was courteous, competent and cheerful. Steve checked in every day, and sometimes twice a day, in person or by phone, to evaluate and tweak the schedule if necessary. He worked hand-in-hand with the designer and was supportive of our opinions and made changes during the process to accommodate our wishes. As a result of his efforts, our kitchen project was completed on time and is just beautiful. His professionalism and courtesy and understanding are a credit to the industry. If you are even considering hiring a company for a project, look no further. This is the man and company for you.

The crew of Rubin Custom Homes did a very professional, high quality job on our renovation. Everyone was polite and accommodating, from the office staff to each of the subcontractors. They were able to accomplish all of our changes and additions as they came up. We felt secure leaving our house in their hands while we were not in town. They kept a clean job site from start to finish. The work was done in a timely manner and the quality of workmanship was excellent. we would highly recommend them to our friends.

I had Rubin completely gut and rebuild a house I bought. This included a new kitchen and 3 new bathrooms. Not only was the work high quality, but Rubin stood squarely behind it even after his warranty had expired. He is expensive, but well worth it!
