About Us

Sustainable Spaces Interior and Spatial Design is an intimate local Interior Design business run by Samantha. Located in Wellington, Sam creates thoughtful environmentally conscious kitchen, bathroom and joinery designs, as well as carefully curated home furnishings, decor and lighting packages. Sustainable Spaces is not about fast fashion, it is a bespoke Ecological Interior Design and Consultancy Service, that ensures your home is designed with our planet in mind. Sustainable Spaces designs collaboratively, using their client's style, taste and ideas as the backbone to a concept. These are then investigated and expanded to create beautiful, compelling, functional spaces. Sam's fully trained and skilled in the use CAD technology, providing her customers with stunning 3D renders and detailed drawing packages. All the guess work is removed with the ability to see your kitchens and bathrooms drawn in full colour from every angle with your exact finishes included. With a priority on natural materials, NZ made, locally sourced or environmentally accredited items, Sam’s designs show that sustainable design is the future; they are beautiful, contemporary, dynamic, flexible and considered. Samantha at Sustainable Spaces redesigned my tired old fifties bungalow and I couldn’t be more delighted. Her vision for ‘what could be’ is unsurpassed. Whether you are needing help with ideas or a total renovation, I would recommend a call to Sustainable Spaces before you go any further. I now have a kitchen which is an absolute joy to work in, and her open plan ideas for my dining and living areas have changed my life. I now have a house I am proud to live in. Thanks Samantha, you are truly inspired.

Sam did a super job designing my new kitchen space, which included some remodelling as well as all new joinery. She listened to my requirements and gave me options and advice. Very responsive to questions and requests. The result has transformed my home, and the word that visitors use is “fantastic!”.

I recently engaged Sam to create a 'base' palate of colours and materials for our new build's interior, and the layout and design of an ensuite and bathroom. I really wanted to consider the environmental impact of my choices but was daunted by the research involved in understanding the options available in NZ. Knowing Sam had this same ethos and would present plans with this in mind was really reassuring. I absolutely endorse the comments in the earlier reviews for her, I had a great experience working with Sam and highly recommend her. With just a few ideas from us Sam created a beautiful scheme while also being pragmatic in considering budget. She considered our existing furniture and fabrics so they will also work in the new house. Sam's work is meticulous in its detail, our builders are thrilled with the guidance the plans give them. Had I understood her skills in spatial planning l would have involved her in the house layout too! I'm excited to see Sam's ideas come to life next year.

Samantha did an interior colour consultation for us and she was easy to talk to, listened to our thoughts, full of creative ideas to suit our home/style and just a true professional. She was very thorough with her work and attention to detail. Samantha is prompt with her communication and had an extremely fast turn around for the work she did for us. We really enjoyed having her help us with the colour consultation and look forward to engaging her in the future for other work we do in our home!
