About Us

Simply put a “House Doctor” is a degree qualified individual, usually from a strategic design or real estate/property background, with a certain blend of skill, diplomacy and knowledge of which, when applied will significantly improve and transform a home into a profitable and pleasing asset. The House Doctor is the science behind good property presentation, functionality and style. As a degree qualified Interior Designer, and practicing House Doctor, working with me not only guarantees you a stunning visual result, your home will function with ease and thus add value to your most valuable assets, your health and your home. “Next to your health your property is your biggest asset, it stands to reason that investing in your home from bones to beauty in a similar vein is a necessity not a luxury” My pragmatic style is to peruse the aesthetic efficacy in every project – the result has to be a visual feast but always functional and cost effective; I believe that enriching my understanding of the past as well as the present relationship between client and home is the key to providing a richer vocabulary in the future. Whilst I have an active interest in current Global trends, I am not interested in following a trend in the name of fashion, each space and client is unique. I have a deep respect for the past masters and truly believe that great design is functional, timeless and a true reflection of individual style and character. There is no cookie cutter approach to my work and often rules are there to be broken! With Knowledge and guiding principles any functional problem can be solved simply and elegantly – always resulting in timeless honesty.

Redesign and furnish my home

I had the pleasure of working with The House Doctor on several occasions redesigning and furnishing my home and I couldn’t be happier with the results ! From the very start Nadia impressed me with her creativity and attention to detail, She took time to understand my taste , lifestyle and vision, turning a vague idea into a design that was both functional and beautiful. Throughout the project Nadia was an excellent communicator. She kept me informed at every step always checking to make sure I was comfortable with the choices being made. I particularly appreciated her flexibility and problem- solving skills when we faced challenges. She came up with smart solutions the blended seamlessly into the design. So if you’re looking for a designer who will listen to your needs, bring fresh ideas and create something uniquely yours, I recommend The House Doctor. Working with her was an absolute joy !

Nadia has given us exactly the help we needed in our new home! We weren’t familiar with the title of “House Doctor”, but it sounded like exactly what we needed, and she was perfect for us! She knows just how to guide and assist, without taking over (unless that’s what you want her to do)! She knew exactly when to chime in with new ideas, or helpful direction, and especially sourcing of things or recommendation of people we weren’t able to find on our own. She was very perceptive about our needs and tastes, very respectful of our choices and personalities, and always allowed us our own time and process to reach the decisions that suited us best. Her pricing is extremely reasonable and fair. Worth every penny, and often saved us money in the long run. I have used Nadia three times and I have greatly appreciated her wide skill set. We were impressed with her simple change in the positioning of furniture to make a room instantly "work", to suggestions of purchasing other pieces that perfectly completed the look. When a room didn't work Nadia could instantly suggest a colour that would transform the energy and warmth in a room. We bought some time with Nadia for a friend as a Xmas gift (a gift that keeps on giving!!!) and in that instance I saw the breadth of her knowledge, with her suggesting logical changes to the house floor plan and advice on building changes. Nadia is highly skilled, a professional with an engaging manner and energy. I would use her again without hesitation as mistakes can be costly and it has always benefitted me to get a plan to work towards.

She actually saved my sanity by giving us a direction in which to head with revamping our home, and her clever ideas for the kitchen literally saved us thousands of dollars. We first used Nadia from The House Doctor for the exterior color scheme at our previous property. In addition she gave much needed clarity on some interior soft furnishing choices and designed a gorgeous bespoke hall runner from The Ivy Room which has received many compliments. Nadia has an intuitive and creative flair, and a distinctly bold eye for picking what her client likes and is not afraid to push the boundaries with color in furniture and art. I love what she has helped us achieve with our new home transforming it from a dated 1930's house with lots of dark wood features into the fresh contemporary and stylish home we have now. We have recently completed a brand new house build and Nadia was a huge contributor to the project. Of all the people we had working for us she was probably the best value for money by far! She has a real talent for understanding what a client is looking for and how to deliver it. We were continually amazed at how clever she was at sourcing interesting materials and items for the interior that we would have spent weeks looking for. She was also brilliant at helping us at a moments notice for a few urgent issues that came up and we really appreciated her dedication to the project and professional approach. Nadia provided us with valuable advice and guidance with regard to making our brand new house really feel like a home. Nadia sourced some key pieces for our living areas that tied these spaces together and brought them alive. She listened carefully to our needs, concerns, likes and dislikes and came up with a concept that really reflected the style that we wanted (even though going in to it we didn't know what we wanted!) Her advice has allowed us to create living and sleeping spaces that we love and also provided us with the tools to make choices that will further complement these areas in the future. All in all a very worthwhile experience and one which we would definitely repeat.
