Featured Reviews for Solar Power Contractors
Sunlife Solar and Roofing
Solar Power Contractors
"I wanted solar for a long time and I'm happy that I made the decision with such a reputable company. I just had a new roof and solar system installed and all the installers were very nice, punctual, and cleaned up after themselves. They did a great job and I love the way my new roof and solar system looks. In fact my neighbors have already given me compliments. I was worried in the beginning of this process that something would go wrong, but now that my project has been completed I'm relieved that everything worked out the way I was told it would. The entire project was done professionally and Sunlife Solar did everything they said they would do. I have already recommended them to family, friends, and neighbors. This is a company that can be TRUSTED."

Altenergy, Inc.
Solar Power Contractors
"We had AltEnergy, of Staunton, VA, install a 10 kW solar panel system, grid tie, with a ground based installation about 70 feet from the house. I also had them wire in a manual transfer switch for a future generator. The company was great to work with, very polite, professional, and did what they promised when they promised it. We are very happy with the work. Taylor worked with us throughout, and was great. The master electrician, Matt, patiently answered my many detailed questions. We've been up and running for about a month now, and getting the KW-hrs we expected. AltEnergy took care of setting up the SREC credit application, all coordination with the local power company, and the online process to allow us to track energy production day by day. Highly Recommended!"

"Allterra installed solar panels on our roof. They worked with us to determine the best placement for the panels. They do all of the work with PG & E and obtain the building permit. All employees were very professional and hard working. We are now making electricity!"

Green Solar Technologies
Solar Power Contractors
"Thank you Green solar Technologies , it was a pleasure working with this company . i was paying more then a $300 a month with LADWP and i knew that the rates are only going to go up , i contacted Green solar technologies and they where not pushy at all instead of insisting on sending a salesman to my house (i work crazy hours ) they just asked me to fax or email my utility bill , i did that and schedule a phone consultation it was painless ,they explained the deference between a lease and a purchase ,The deference between the panels manufactures and inveretes I did not think there is so much information involved i decided to go with the micro inverter package with micro inverters . i am now paying $20 a month to my utility company it is amazing ."

Celestial Solar Innovations, LLC
Solar Power Contractors
"We were thinking about going solar for almost two years but delayed because it was a big investment and we never seem to convince ourselves that we had done enough research. After getting quotes from several companies, we decided to go with Celestial Solar Innovations. Jim Reilly, Owner of the company, and Joe Reilly (Solar Consultant) are very professional and knowledgeable for the work they do. They answered all the questions we had. We did our homework and did enough research on products and provider. It took only a few hours on the internet to learn about solar panels in general and to get a handle on what we would actually be purchasing and paying for. We decided to have custom designed system of our choice. We asked several big companies for the system we wanted; but all of the big companies were mainly focused on one brand and were not able to custom design the combination we were looking for. We wanted to have Solar World Panels (reason they are USA made), and SolarEdge inverter and Solaredge optimizer combination. Celestial Solar Innovations worked with us and gave us competitive price for the system. They handled all the permits and paperwork. They have been professional, highly skilled and respectful of our needs as a customer. To us they are one of the best companies we have dealt with. Installation of the solar panels began in early July 2015, and the system was totally up and running by August 25, 2015. Now we only wish for a sunny day!! no rain no clouds . We love watching the Netmeter run backwards and watching our electricity bill going down. We highly recommend Celestial Solar Innovations for Solar System Project. Tyagi Family"

What solar power systems are available?

The two main solar power systems are on-grid and off-grid. On-grid systems – also referred to as grid-tied and utility interactive – are connected to your mains power supply. If your home produces more energy than it uses, your meter goes down and you generate credits with your energy provider (check your state government for details on any rebates available). On-grid solar panel systems have lower equipment and installation costs, and will save you money through net metering.

An off-grid solar power system uses battery banks to store the electricity you produce. These battery banks store the sun’s energy so you can use electricity at night or on a cloudy day. This system is designed to keep household electricity running for about two or three cloudy days; longer cloudy periods require a backup generator. Off-grid systems are most suited to households that have no access to the utility grid, and are sometimes a cheaper alternative to extending power lines in remote areas.

Hybrid and portable solar power systems are additional options. A hybrid uses two or more renewable energy sources – usually wind and solar, while portable solar systems are used mostly in farming, fishing and camping, and can be set up when there is no access to mains electricity.

What types of solar panels are available?

There are three main types of solar panels that can can generate electricity for your home: monocrystalline, polycrystalline and hybrid. The basic monocrystalline celled panels are fairly efficient and have outstanding performance in cooler conditions, but are marginally more expensive than polycrystalline, which works better in hotter conditions. Hybrid panels use crystalline cells with a thin layer of film, which attracts more energy. This makes hybrid models the most efficient solar panel installation, but also the most expensive. To talk about which solar panels are best for your home and how much energy they produce, contact a solar panel company or installer on Houzz.
