POCO Solar Energy, Inc.
Solar Power Contractors in Cupertino, CA
“We had an excellent experience with POCO Solar from start to finish. We had solar panels installed for both our pool, and electical-- very happy with the pricing and installation on both. Would definitely recommend!”
Earth-Electric
Solar Power Contractors in Cupertino, CA
“Let me start out by what you won't be getting from Earth Electric.
No hard-sell. Their sales person, Elvis, really knew his stuff and arrived well prepared. More important, once he realized my level of knowledge he was perfectly happy to skip over the things I already knew and focus on answering my questions. Unlike some I spoke to, he himself was a former solar installer, so he spoke from experience, not from a script.
No glossy brochures. I know, it's traditional for solar companies to have glossy brochures full of pretty charts and smiling families in front of their solar home. Elvis had manufacturers spec sheets and a laptop on which he showed me web pages. If you really crave expensive glossy brochures, you'll need to look elsewhere.
High prices. I'd heard from others that Earth-Electric was competitive, and so they were in my case, substantially less expensive than my other top candidate. I guess they saved money by not printing glossy brochures.
Subcontractors. Most solar companies hire subcontractors. Matthew (the owner) did the site survey himself and was there during the first part of the install and the inspection (more on that later). The entire team works for Earth-Electric, and they were great.
What do you get with Earth Electric?
Let me give it to you in a nutshell:
The installation, scheduled for 3 days, took only 2.
From signed contract to permission to operate from PG&E took less than a month! Seriously - I signed the contract on 10/24 and permission to operate arrived on 11/23. A lot of the credit goes to Sheryl, who doesn't waste any time getting the paperwork done (especially with regards to permits and PG&E - I didn't have to do a thing beyond authorizing Earth-Electric to handle the paperwork).
I originally choose Earth Electric because I like supporting local businesses and Matthew (the owner) teaches Solar Installation at a local community college. I figure anyone who can teach installation probably know something about doing it.
How right I was did not become obvious until the city inspection.
We got the head electrical inspector for the city who was also doing a training that day. So it was a serious inspection. Soon after beginning it turned into an odd game of jeopardy. Matthew would whisper an answer in my ear a few seconds before the inspector would ask the question. It became quickly obvious that he and the inspector both knew their subject - especially towards the end when they started geeking out about changes to the electrical code and how that would be impacting future installations. Towards the end the inspector pulled me aside and had a few choice words about some of the other contractors he had to deal with - it's pretty clear he was having a good time and had a great deal of respect for Matthew. Needless to say, the install passed easily.
When you buy solar, you're buying both equipment and the services of an installer, with the latter I think being the scarier and more important choice. Be sure you talk to Earth-Electric before you make your final decision. You won't regret it.”
Simmitri
Solar Power Contractors in Cupertino, CA
“Simmitri has differentiated themselves by offering a comprehensive approach towards energy. We had been researching companies for a few months before scheduling a meeting with one of Simmitri's energy consultants. After meeting with him, we knew we didn't need to speak with anyone else. His approach was comprehensive advising us on ways we can decrease our energy footprint by looking at not only solar but sealing the house to loose less of the heating and cooling, evaluation of the duct work to maximize the loose of heating, sealing gaps. He was able to model in real time if we wanted to add a electric vehicle or upgrade our old HVAC system to a electrical heat pump. No other company we met with was even close to this level of care and sophistication. If you want real solutions, Simmitri is the company.”
Allterra Solar
Solar Power Contractors in Cupertino, CA
“Allterra installed solar panels on our roof. They worked with us to determine the best placement for the panels. They do all of the work with PG & E and obtain the building permit. All employees were very professional and hard working. We are now making electricity!”
Patrick with Solar Energy Partners
Solar Power Contractors in Cupertino, CA
“Patrick Halloran is with Solar Energy Partners and evaluates, recommends and supervises the installation of solar equipment and related devices. It starts with review of your energy needs and the location of your property and ends with the successful solar system. Result is savings and happy customers!”
