What is the normal method for heating a home in America? I don't see any radiators in the pictures and only open fireplaces. Is there some sort of unseen heating used?
Ah. Thanks for that Becky. Is that run using electricity or a boiler with oil or water? Do most homes get built with a room to house whatever powers the heating system?
Around here, most homes like this one have a primary furnace in the basement. They use natural gas or heating oil for heat and an air conditioner compressor hidden out back for cooling. Alternatively, a heat pump with electric backup can be used in more efficient homes. Both cooling and heating share a common air handler that uses an electric fan motor to circulate the air using ductwork. Homes without basements usually have the air handler in the attic.
