I was thinking Hydrangeas and Choysia Ternata/Mexican Orange Blossom along the south side, and then Rose Garden on West and North. But other ideas needed...
Climate here - exposed, can be quite windy/hot and dry in summer/frost in winter.
You can get feedback from a local nursery. My garden is 15 years old. I've planted what is pretty and now know what will grow and what won't! I have a peony garden, hydrangeas/ hosta on north side, catmint in dry areas. If you like to garden this is an ongoing process! If you just want to plant and move on, think low maintenance shrubs, dwarf lilac, hydrangea, and boxwood.
