I'm renovating my garage and under inspection on the Building Standards the 2.4 meter minimum requirement is only for new homes, while 2.1 is the minimum for existing homes. Anyone have any clarification for this?

Hi Everyone, I always thought that the standard for ceiling gib in NZ was 13mm. Today we received our plans from a builder and it specifies the use of 10mm for BOTH walls and ceilings. After a quick www search it seems that 13mm ceiling gib is a strong recommendation, not the NZ standard. If you can clarify this, I'd appreciate hearing back, or if you have used 10mm, did it ever sag? Any further advice is appreciated. Cheers Fred.
