Comments (0)The owner of this urban terrace house wanted the small backyard to be a mini-retreat that could be used as additional living space. By removing the lawn and extending the courtyard area slightly, space was created for a dining table and a sun-lounger with space to move around. A small utility area doubles as space for a productive vegetable garden. As planting space in the courtyard was limited, plants were selected that could add drama and lushness without taking up too much space. Bold colours and textures and strong vertical lines from the canna lilies and clumping palms create the feeling of a lush tropical retreat all-year round. The pine timber fence was stained with Resene Waterborne Woodsman "Iroko" which forms a rich backdrop to the courtyard. The house featured pressed ceilings in the bedroom, which gave the room a grand appeal. This feature was retained as it was beautiful and kept the character but paired it with a more contemporary bed to modernise the space, and changed the spatial layout. We layered the bed with different colours, textures and patterns to create more interest. The light fitting was replaced with a modern twist on a chandelier. Comments (0)Michelle and Jeremy live in a 3-bedroom weatherboard house built in the 90’s, and was very much still stuck in the 90’s! Michelle is a great baker, often whipping something up on request; she juggles working in an accounting office and being a mum, while Jeremy works in IT. They are famous for their potluck dinners and often having BBQ’s into the colder months. Our expert designer Mark, moved the existing fridge location from the middle of the room to a wall cavity, instantly creating a better flow and opening up the kitchen. With a splash of colour on the back wall which wrapped around to the side wall, it gave the whole room a fresh feeling in keeping with the Hamptons look the couple were after. This stunning kitchen has Snowdrift White Cabinetry and a Pewter laminate bench top. The bar back is a vinyl wrapped tongue and groove patterned panel giving the kitchen a stately Hampton's look.
