Exterior cladding colours?? Help with colours and finish
Comments (6)Hi again- I have been looking at Benjamin Moores colors and have chosen a few you might look at. My technique for color choices is to buy several large sheets of MDF from the hardware and several paint samples that I think will work. Grab a plain white sample pot as well and just play with colors; if what you thought looked good in the shop and doesn't look good in reality, just add a bit of the white to lighten it and use the darker tones to deepen. Once you've found the color you like paint it on one of the large MDF sheets and live with it for a day or two and see how it looks morning, night, south side of building, northside of building. If the color that you like is one that you've mixed yourself, just go back to the paintshop as I'm sure B Moore would have the right shade so you can match it. Do you know the color name of the roofing? Is it IRONSTONE or MONUMENT? I'd be tempted to use that same color for the windows. My personal trick for contrast and trims is to take the main color and ask paint shop to make it up in 1/4 strength even lighter if need be. Good luck and post pictures when it's finished....See MoreWeatherboard Exterior Colour Help?
Comments (2)A green roof pairs well with gray and white homes. For a subtler look, pair a green roof with a siding in a lighter shade of green. I think you are on the right track .You have chosen harmonious shades . New paint doesn't have to match existing colors, but it should harmonize. Some general tips are- Green roof - Gray, green, or white house colors. You could use a dash of yellow also....See MoreExterior colour - should i go moody blue?
Comments (13)To answer your question I would paint the body of the house blue, all trim white, and then the "fringe" which I think ties into your porch decking, I would paint it the gray. It is a good "grounding" color for your home. Sherwin Williams has a cool web tool. Take a pic of your house and load it onto their site. You can "color" away on your house. When I painted my house for the first time, I did not want the garage door to stick out, wanted it to blend into the house. Everyone said it would look weird, needed to be painted the same as the trim. Used the Sherwin Williams site and realized want I visioned looked good. I have neighbors of dubious design skills! Ha! Comments (0)Hey all, I am getting a timber pergola installed in my backyard. It is a flat pergola with roofs. Here are the details of the project :- 1) Flat roof timber pergola. 2) Merbau hardwood decking- most likely in red color 3) Black/brown bamboo fencing 4) Natural grass lawns 5) Red brick exterior 6) Paperback/dark cream color roofing on the pergola matching the windows and the fascia. 7) Concreting done next to decking . Doubts :- 1) Now my first confusion is whether to paint the pergola in dark grey /charcoal completing the exterior or black/dark brown complementing the fence. I don't want to go all cream as the roof is cream too. Neither do I wanna paint it red as I feel it will be all too red (bricks and deck ). Please help me select the color. Should I paint it all one color or have pillars painted separately ? 2) Please help me pick a color for the concrete paint to blend in with the whole exterior. I am thinking either cream ( wall color ) , light orange or charcoal grey. Attached are the pics. Last one is off the internet on how the decking would look. Any inputs are appreciated. Thanks much...See Moremikec171
