Thank you for your help, I had never questioned my taste until a recent visitor commented on my lack of color! I like the look of the mongolian lambs wool cushions-have not seen here in New Zealand, I will have to search. Thanks for the reminder about mirror, it mostly does reflect the dresser but yes the doors are focal too, I hadn't noticed. I used to have more height on the living area coffee table but when I removed the Television and hung the vintage ceiling tiles (photo attached) on the wall the height interrupted them from another angle (not photographed). Our house is located semi rural with bush and water views, with this being quite focal in the lounge (with the wall paper) which is why I have not hung art. With this (as photographed below) would you still hang something? Really appreciate you all taking the time to answer. Thanks.

Absolutely no problem changing up the carpet. Things to watch for......make the transition in a doorway, an opening or along a visual break in the rooms (like the corners of the walls). I would stay in the same colour range, but just go to the other end of the spectrum rather than change the colour completely.....like light grey going to dark grey, not light grey going to navy blue. You want the separation but an easy transition on the eyes.

Hi J Smith, You have an exceeding excellent design for your new home. A few very small suggestions; 1. Reduce the length of the Pantry wall that's pointed at the sink by min. 2' if not more. 2. Consider removing pocket doors to Living Space or widening. 3. Remove the wall on the left side in Bed 1 as you walk in the door. 4. Do you need space for Mechanical's; Furnace, water heater, etc? It's hard to comment without a picture of the home. Lots of styles were built in the 80s and it would depend on what suited the layout. You usually can't go wrong with classic styling that doesn't date too readily.
