does any one have modeck decking ? I have seen one and have a bit of concern about the shrinkage with changing weather bit may still get it as the fuss free maintanance would no doubt outway the shrinkage gaps that show . whats your thoughts on the product.

We have installed many modeck decks and have never had any problems with it. The product seems to deliver all the promises the manufacturers make. Since its not a natural timber we have found it is long lasting and great for high moisture areas - about 4 years ago we constructed a modeck deck on an ocean front property and there hasn't been any problem yet.

The only thing to mention is that the darker colours of modeck seem to heat up a fair bit on hot days.

Plastic alternative decking boards expand and contract significantly more than natural timber, particularly in their length. When installing plastic alternatives follow the manufactures guidelines regarding spacing and expansion clearance, traditional timber tolerances are insufficient. I agree with Anarac that dark colours tend to be hot underfoot, however the lack of maintenance these decks require is a large benefit they have over timber decks.
