Window Treatments - Please Help!

I am in need of advice regarding the windows off of my kitchen. I cannot decide which way to go here, but I think this area needs some softening and warming up. Let me know what you advise. The walls will be painted in a nice griege, and privacy is not a huge issue since this room looks out onto a sunroom. Thanks! By the way I am willing to trim out these windows as well.

Comments (4)I think I would start with the furniture, in terms of space, given that you said it was not a large room. I would check sizing of the furniture and room, to see what would work with the bed, a couch, the wardrobe and any other furniture that you'll be using in the room. From there, I think I would start with the bedding possibly as a starting point for the color scheme. Perhaps you could find bedding with a print you like in the colors that you like, and take from there, the colors for the rest of the room. As well as a sofa bed, another option might be a daybed that could also do double duty as a bed or seating. I think painting the furniture a bring pink would work well against the white. And then take it from there with whatever you've decided to do in terms of the overall color scheme with pink/white/silver/black or pink/orange and white for the walls, perhaps something like a gray as well with the second color combo. Comments (7)I agree you probably need to centre the vanity and the cabinet on the wall or they could look a bit odd! You don't say why you don't want a space between the window and the vanity - just my opinion, but I would think 300mm could be quite useful for a bin, a clothes basket or box, or a small stool for putting clothes on? The only alternative to leaving a space, is to fill it with something as the response above suggested. To avoid it interfering with the window, you could make this something lower, so it sits level with the top of the vanity. This could be built in and the wall lining put over it to create a single "shelf" level with the underside of the vanity top, or if you can find some freestanding open shelving of the correct width, which could also be cut to the correct height, you could wedge that between the wall and the vanity side when fitting the vanity. Comments (6)You are correct the place does and always will look a bit sparse when you only have blinds. The question with curtains is sometimes dependant on what climate you live in and I am not sure where you are so I am going to say. If you need curtains for heat go for a quality curtain to the floor with a fabric that is not stiff (as I discovered I now own after buying curtains off line for my spare rooms). The expensive curtains I brought for my living room have a softer texture and hang so much nicer. As I need Curtains / Roman blinds for heat I have backing fabric etc on the expensive made to measure ones, where as the cheaper ones are just thermals. If you only want to add a curtain for looks and do not require it for heat I would recommend going with a lovely sheer / half see through fabric that drapes really well, this will add a point of interest and you can colour match or add a loved colour to a bare - white on white - cream on cream - colour scheme....See More

Roman shade mounted above window. IMO Sheers would be too light with your furniture style and the will block the outlet
