Tiny bathroom/laundry layout ideas??
I'd love to get some ideas around the layout for our tiny (2.4 x 2.1) bathroom/laundry combo. Current floor plan (not to scale) attached along with photo of actual space.
Sliding door is actually on the inside of the bathroom, we will change this to a pocket/cavity sliding door for some extra room.
Would love to put in a wall mounted vanity in there. We'd like to keep the bath/shower combo rather than just a shower.

1940's NZ kitchen - small, awkward-ish layout.
Comments (121)I would suggest you take out the cabinet that is to the right of the stove and use it elsewhere in the house -- perhaps in the bathroom or dining room with a hutch above it. Then, I would suggest you have someone install a lazy susan cabinet in the corner between the sink counter and the stove, meaning you would move the stove down a bit and have a small cabinet/counter top to the right of the stove. I would suggest you have the cabinets refinished in white and then paint the walls a pastel you like. If you would prefer white walls, then add white-painted crown molding and paint the ceiling a light neutral blue, such as Sherwin Williams Niagara Falls Blue. Then, I would suggest you choose a favorite accent color and use this sparingly in accessories like towels, pot holders, small vases or floral arrangements, and a valence above the triple windows. For a genuine 1940s look, you might have white ceramic square tiles with a rectangular red border installed as a back splash behind and above the stove. If you are replacing counter tops, I would suggest a light color such as white with a beige or light grey vein or striation for some sort of pattern. Comments (5)Thanks for responding. We're in Auckland, New Zealand and close to the sea. Outdoor living is quite important but it does get chilly in winter so it's a balance. There are three adults and two young children in the household (one of the adults is an Au Pair who likes to spend time in her own room in the evenings). The kids will watch their cartoons generally in the morning and a bit before dinner. Then in the evening my husband and I will relax and watch TV. Right now the kids' toys are in the family room downstairs. We are foodies and like cooking. Generally when guests come over we all hang out in our small kitchen at the moment. The dining table we use for every meal time. We also like the idea of being able to get to the deck from the kitchen, rather than having to carry food in summer through the lounge/dining. The entry way is that big in order to reduce on the structural work but also in order to ensure that the door to the staircase is not in the lounge....See MorePlease help with a square-ish bathroom!
Comments (1)Hi! I think you should rethink your return walls to create a walk in shower and some privacy for the toilet. A tower could go next to the vanity if you went for a 1500L or less. Comments (0)We recently moved into a 1980 highest brick home in Queensland The lower level bathroom is narrow - 100x 260 and includes a shower,small sink and toilet on an outside wall with window There is an adjacent hallway plus linen storage which connects the laundry to the rumpus room and can be converted to incorporate that space into the bathroom renovation (it would mean a door at either end to shut when in use and walking through to access the laundry. Please help with layout ideas. The floor underneath is concrete and I believe behind the plaster in the bathroom will be the blond brick wall that exists in the rest of the lower level Thanks!...See More

my suggestions include sacrificing the laundry tub and using either the bath and/or a bigger handbasin for handwashing and creating a bathroom with a cupboard laundry rather than a combined laundry bathroom...a wider or custom made vanity with semi recessed basin could include more storage for linen, cleaning and toilet supplies with generous wall cabinets for toiletries with the washer (and stacked drier?) contained in a tall cabinet with just enough space to squeeze in a ironing board mop and broom with overhead shelves for laundry supplies...best choice will depend on plumbing and options for the entry door but the width of the room will restrict the depth of vanity to allow for the bath and leaving enough comfortable walking space

Just quickly, you do not need to forgo a dryer- you can easily accomodate a stacked pairing; similar to the below- you simply need a rubber stacking mat between appliances.I have done this stacking in numerous apartment developments and in my home

7 years agoThe following layout could work fr you keep the Toilet insitu add a nib wall next to it and beside the top of the bath, this could have the glass door attached to it for extra depth to stop any splashing
The hand basin in the corner with a Mirrored shaving cabinet above, the washer next to the sink, then add a hanging rack between the wall cabinet and the nib wall to allow for airing/drying over night in front of the window.
It's a very small space but by keeping it simple will appear to make it feel bigger.

if you're prepared to move the toilet then a big bath across the room would allow for a generous vanity with semi recessed basin and wall cabinet with toilet under the window and washing machine standing in the corner with or without an enclosed cabinet but with no sink but if the laundry is reduced to a washing machine in the corner i'm wondering if there's another corner somewhere else in the house
