Remove all the book shelves and have your TV mounted on a wall bracket in the conventional way and not in the corner , with the low cabinets under for the rest of the devices . I would leave the short wall with no cabinets and put a painting in its place . When done, maybe some new blockout curtains in a plain fabric . Spotlight has heaps . Someone else will hopefully have some more ideas . I love your couches but not for me with five grubby grandchildren .

Love the book cases, as I am a reader. Just to give a different perspective, I would put all the Sam colour together, and some corresponding piece on the top. The corner says to me I am a comfortable, stimulations home. Just my taste.

Hi there. I suggest creating a tv wall on the left side and leaving the right either bare or showing a piece of art that isn't too strong. Turning one couch to make an L shape might be a nice change if you want one, depending whether you want to look out the window with one sofa facing the tv or one along the length of the window and the other facing the tv which would open up the space.

can you show more of the family room, it would be good to see the other end, can the TV be at that end?, I can see the book case on the R/H side of the door removed and included into the left side, and this space only has books. The book shelves on the R/H side of the door makes it look smaller

It’s a busy full bookcase that draws your eye to the wall. Do you need it? Can you put doors on it. This would reduce the visual impact and allow focus elsewhere.

I Agree with Julie Herbert's comments. If you are changing the shelving altogether, perhaps consider concealing the TV behind a sliding panel. Before opting for a low bench style, consider your storage & display requirements as you may have to sacrifice some space for that option. Have you considered changing the hallway door to a concealed swing door?
