Yes, I know. Small spaces are so hard sometimes. But look at Taiwan, or Thailand, they have small spaces and definitely make it fit! It seems like you like to change things around often. I change my room around too. For organization, I suggest get a small desk and stick some shelves over the desk only. Youll have alot more creative room on the floor that way. Have a rolling side table. 2 floor liners and/or rug throws to place wherever. Comfy pillows to lounge on the floor. Go to Anna's linens or the nearest discount fabric store and get some cool fabrics to use as window shades. You can change the fabric depending on the season or if you get sick of the color. You would be amazed the difference in how your room looks depending upon the color the curtain creates when light shines in the room. For the bed, Get two throws, have fun with the design, get something you like regardless if you think it will match or not. Lastly, you can put the extra throws, pillows, blankets in bins under you bed. Cheers!

Wow, that was awesome Mark, thanks for that and everyone else. I thought about the desk facing the other way actually, to avoid feeling enclosed I do have really great views there so I thought about a small couch and maybe a bookshelf on the back, but having the dining table in front is probably not the best either.... complicated :( Here are a couple more pics, today was a beautiful day so I managed to get more of the views

Bottom line, a toe kick is to stop you stubbing your toe and get your closer to your worktop counter. If you can fit your foot underneath it in shoes or barefoot while standing at a counter and not stub your toe or hurt your upper foot, you can do it. If you cannot, you will be forced to stand back further at your counter and that will not be comfortable for you in the long run.

This is a kitchen going into a dog kennel building so I'm not too worried about resale. My dogs are raw fed and so I spend quite a bit of time prepping food, washing bowls, etc. I'm only 5'6" but I've been doing these tasks in our house... in our current kitchen which has counters at 35 1/2"... and my back is constantly killing me after I get done. I've purchased a long stainless steel counter top for the kennel (with built in sinks) but plan on the cabinets underneath being custom built. Just can't figure out what height. I was wondering... if I'm sitting at a table (which is comfortable for me to work at for hours on end) and I measure where the table top "hits" on my body and then stand and measure the distance to the floor, it's about 41". I'm wondering if that is an indication as to where my counters in the kennel should be! Seems awfully high! I may need to take the counter top I've bought and put it on some saw horses and varying heights and work on it to see what is best before I make the call!
