Our 1950's cottage has Pale Eucalypt roof and we painted the walls Dulux Self Destruct with Dulux Mangrove trim and white timber windows. Very happy with the colours.

So much depends on the style of house , the landscaping , the neighborhood IMO . A colour combo that looks good on a Victorian style house probably won't suit a Spanish style or a Modernist -- even plastered walls look different to weatherboard .
