we need dimensions of all the existing spaces, a floorplan including the adjoining rooms would also help and is there another toilet in the house and how many people need to use this bathroom

Yeah it is a weird one. I am wondering if it is a two-way bathroom arrangement being the only bathroom in a small house. Assuming that the master bedroom and the WIR are adjacent, but where does the other door near the shelf lead to?

dimensions of current usable bathroom space as follows:

separate toilet: 1100x1500
vanity area: 1950x1500
bath/shower area: 2450x1700
BIC: approx 1000x500

it's just me and my partner that live here as a young couple, but would like to keep the future in mind with kids etc.

As someone in a small house with two children you definitely do not want to merge your only toilet into the only bathroom. Keep it separate. I’m wondering if the plan gurus here can carve out an ensuite.

Just from standing in the room, I'm worried having a BIR there may feel quite crammed. Would it work to have the entrance to the ensuite against the far right of the bedroom, swap the toilet/vanity in there around, and install the BIR along the top wall, and relocate the door to the master bedroom from the hallway to create room for the BIR?

also I've just measured the bathroom and WIR area again, sorry about the last measurements, I was using an app on the phone and they're never accurate 😂

depends on the precise measurements in the bedroom..please check the distance from the bathroom wall to the front wall (not to the bay window) and also measure the width of the bathroom windows including the architrave and the distance from the floor to the bottom of the architraves

Excellent OKL, I had a quick look and had similar thoughts, the robe in the bedroom is the way to go, I think you used a QB to show how it will all fit together. The Bay window is always great to make the room feel and look bigger

always so many options to consider but the cramped feeling can be modified by careful design of the storage..eg having some floor to ceiling height storage combined with some shorter cabinets

I knew you could do it Oklouise. A second bathroom is so worth the sacrifice of a WIR and a bit of bedroom space.

Yeah, very cool ideas, really liking the look of that second design actually. Makes it easier not having to move existing bedroom door.

Master bedroom long wall is 3550

the size of the windows including architraves are:

toilet - 900w x 1080h (1050 from floor, 290 from top toilet wall)

bathroom - 1260w x 1260h (870 from floor, 120 from ensuite/bedroom wall)

all the different plans are to help illustrate benefits and disadvantages of each but, correct dimensions of the bedroom now alters every plan and the problem with the second idea is that the shower won't be happy against such a low window and, assuming the floor is concrete, the toilet is harder to install away from an outside wall and, although the bedroom door isn't moved, the door into the new ens would have to be moved so, back to my original suggestion with correct dimensions..despite the wardrobe potentially making the room feel a little cramped, having the storage against the hall side is more out of the way, doesn't alter the bedroom door, the two doors into the old bathroom and wiw can be converted into a central cavity slider, the shower is away from the window, the toilet is next to the outside wall, there's more walking around space, room for a bedroom chair and there's 2.6m of storage wall ..

I agree they are great ideas. The other thought I had was to try and swivel bed so facing bay windowand create some sort of robe behind it with bed backed against the rear side. I'm not sure if there wouldbe enough room for it though or how it would impact on door to bedroom.
