Need help on lighting design Dear Friends. I am building a new house and attach my house plan. I wonder if anyone could give me some ideas on the lighting plan. Basically I am keen on LED lights and was thinking of 6 of these (7W), with dimmers in the dining, living and lounge areas and also the kitchen. For the hallway, LED perhpas 5 W. For the bedrooms, I am wondering if a button type light would suffice. Besides the master bedroom, all the other rooms will be used by my children who are in uni - meaning bright lights for study etc. I am also thinking of placing lampshades in the room. Any advice or suggested plans would be highly appreciated. I am also confused as to the sort of lighting I need outside the house. I am a novice at this - so please ignore if these are basic questions.

A quick fix for the dining room would be to center your dining room table in the dining room area. You can define this room a bit more clearly by adding a chandelier centered above the table. For the living room, the loveseat can remain on where it is, but pull it away from the wall. Move the loveseat so it more to the right, it does not need to be centered under the window. Place the larger 3 seater couch along the wall where the coffee table currently stands. It should rest under the window about a foot away from the wall. Place the side table at the corner between the now perpendicular sofas and center the coffee table in the room. This will give you space for a nice entertainment unit where the large sofa previously stood. Alternatively you could place a credenza here to store your dining room dishes or additional storage. Lower the painting on the wall to eye level so the center of the painting is at 54" above the finished floor. Purchasing new window treatments or drapery panels that coordinate with a new throw and cushions for the sofas will tie the elements of the space together and make it more cohesive.

Hi everyone, I'm planing to make my grandma a surprise and do a makeover to her apartment. I'm facing multiple issues. I'm overseas and in her area can't find any architects/designers on Houzz, so I'll need to find inspiration and when I'm going on holiday in few months organise with a local contractor. One other issue, it's an old communist type of apartment, with heaps of walls and small rooms, which I'd prefer to keep this way, otherwise I'll need to involve engineers and so on. I'm thinking to do mainly bath and kitchen (apartment layout 4-kitchen; 7-bath), the rooms are fine, maybe some new fresh coat of paint. For kitchen I'm thinking to put a barn style door, they seem to be in fashion and will save some space. One issue here, kitchen will need to have some sort of eating area as well, maybe a small collapsable table I was thinking, although, it will make it harder for her. There's concrete floor, which I'm planning to keep as it is, maybe put some clear epoxy or repolish it, with some white cabinets? What are you guys thinking? Bathroom wise, I'll need some advice on the bath tub area. At this moment, there's a nice iron tub with cast iron legs, I believe that with bit of love and new paint it will look nice, or remove it completely and put a walk in shower with nice glass wall? Thinking of having vintage tiles laid and some white tiles on walls, maybe similar to subway ones, or square? Probably will go with a lot of white stuff as there's no natural light coming through.
