Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely try to attach rounded tiles where I can to make it more Spanish. Also love the idea of attaching Spanish style tiles to fronts of steps etc. I will definitely do bright contrasting front door, and I really like the window flowers idea to break up all the walls. Landscaping is my strength, so got that sorted, and will begin that first. There is too much focus currently on parking spaces, and not enough on outdoor living. What do you guys think of this colour. I am happy to paint over the aluminium windows with whatever colour would suit best. Thanks very much.

Pictures would help...are you planning on getting a new roof or is it staying? If it's staying, is it tile, shingle, metal? And what region is it located?

Hi, our 20 yr old home is being renovated to include a double garage off one end. Current colours are the old brown aluminium joinery (staying), the cedar (staying), and roof colour (karaka green?). it all looks rather drab and we would like a modernised twist on the home. I am thinking mid grey, dark grey, or black for aluminum garage doors and the board that runs under the spouting. Spouting will also be replaced, I like the look of copper but this may be cost prohibitive! We have a deck fence that we will also change from the current green, in keeping with the new scheme. Any ideas would be gratefully received please!

Are there any rules to follow regarding choosing exterior colours, ie, someone once told me that there should never be more than three colours, regarding the roof, walls and trims. Building a modern monoplane roof house on the coast. Like the idea of either Gull Grey or New Denim Blue for the metal roof. The interior pallette will be whites, inky navy, greys. Drawn towards grey for the weatherboard walls or white, prefer a black door. Although this is a modern house we are trying to inject a bit of modern farmhouse decor inside.
