The windows don’t have to be 600mm apart but they inc the surrounds and seals need to be non combustible materials. I’m assuming the windows are at least 950mm off the floor so the bench will fit underneath.

can I put another suggestion into the mix.

Place the kitchen island parallel to the laundry. Open up an exit to the backyard by installing a door where the window is near the meals area. (Also ,referring to your previous post about combining pantry and laundry.)

Close off the passage at the Bath 1 end of wall, the bedroom wing can access the lounge/dining/kitchen through the double doors from the hallway. The meals area can become a rectangular dining room, with out being a thoroughfare to access a passage way that leads to a door to outside. The access to outside would be directly from the dining room.

I don’t understand the plan. Can you put you fence lines and front door on and windows in the large room living? Why do you have the large windows in kitchen and no wall space for full height pantry?

then we can see the whole house plan, instead of a half version.

We aren't in your home so pictures of your home would help us to understand window height etc.

The house is tenanted and is settling in July (we only recently purchased it)..

I am also going back to the house soon to get the window measurements clearly..

Getting full floor plans has been a challenge.. attached below is the current setup and the only detail we received..

The wall between kitchen/wall will be removed and that's where we will have an island benchtop instead..

before focussing on the kitchen what are your plans for the whole house? will you live in it or use it as an investment and is there a garage and driveway, what is the purpose of the outside door between bed 4 and 5, where is north and describe the local climate

Updated plans with measurements on windows and walls (the plan is out of scale in many areas)..

Wall between kitchen n lounge, bath n WC will be removed. Window on lounge mentioned in the diagram..

Carport is to the left of house(right behind bathroom/bed5). We currently have access to it, but considering extending smaller bath instead to the walkway and may not have direct access to carport..

I’d block up 1 or at least reduce the size of windows as it doesn’t look as though you have good views anyway, this will give more wall space

Not good having to walk through kitchen and meals to get to beds 4 & 5 especially as the area is so narrow

my suggestions avoid the unnecessary extra costs of removing the whole wall between kitchen and living and also saves ceilings in both rooms...with limited space there is no advantage to removing the whole wall when a wide door way and "wiindow" above the island will do what you need to open up the space and "then invest savings in sliding doors to access the rear and a new side entry so that you can reuse the space wasted in the existing side hallway ..there is enough kitchen wall saved for a 1m wide fridge space, a pantry and linen cupboard and make sure that the stove is located away from the corner and reuse the existing stove and sink locations

thanks oklouise... had costs in mind for keeping the partial wall(marked as Partial wall), and remove rest of the wall there-after.. but agree that there isn't much point removing the entire wall... we could still move the cooktop and get comparative costs of keeping it as "window" cutout instead.. The current wallspace over the cooktop is not even 600mm, hence have to move it on this side somehow...

One of the reasons we were keeping that random cupb'd still as-is was becoz we weren't too sure of cost involved in moving things in that area.. Is it too expensive to get things like those changed around ?

removing a partial wall as shown in your photos is just as expensive as there is no corner support..my suggestion is to make two wide doorways without removing supporting structures....with limited space, you need to take advantage of whatever is available and the random linen cupboard wall should not be structural and relatively easy to remove...my suggestions adds new walls for the linen and pantry so biggest challenge will be matching the cornice (we would steal old cornice that would be hidden by the new pantry/linen to patch cornice for the new walls on kitchen and hall side and maybe recycle the original linen cupboard doors) your plans shows that there is over a metre of wall behind the original stove which makes it the best location to keep the stove as well as being the cheapest location... moving the stove would cost about $500 without allowing for extra cost of custom cabinetry as well as a range hood that has no where else to go!!

Following on from OKL suggestion, I would open up the passageway to the rear of the house as going via the living room to bedrooms etc is inconvenient
