Hi all, just wondering if anyone has built a flat pack/pre-fab house? Not just a tiny house but a full sized house. Was this any cheaper than a traditional build? Is there anything you don't like about it? Pros/Cons apart from time to construct?
No experience at all , but my gut feeling is that if they were so good and also easy , then there would a lot of them . The fact there isn't many I would take as , at best , a reason to be careful .
Here in NZ , one large building company had great plans to import 'Panasonic' ones from Japan but I understand those particular ones fell into a bit of a 'rock and hard place' situation -- a few parts didn't meet NZ code , the Govt don't want to change coding , Panasonic wouldn't change unless 1000 or 10,000 or something were ordered .
Don't write them off , and good you are asking , but almost certainly keep your eyes open and ask questions .
I'm looking in NSW but so far it looks like they all work with architects and council to get it all done above board and should last as long as a traditionally built house. Definitely taking this into consideration
