Our exposed aggregate path needs help. Either to clean away the moss or replace completely. The stones are patchy in places and hurt to walk on with bare feet. Any advice appreciated and while I love the bricks I don’t love the pebbles.
my aggregate paving (including a driveway) installed more than 20 years ago is still as smooth and moss free as the day it was laid...your brick edges look excellent but the path is poorly laid... properly installed aggregate paving should be smooth and comfortable to walk on in bare feet.. best solution would be to replace all the aggregate between the existing brick edges.. a local concretor should be able to organise this for you in a few days...
To me the path doesn’t look like the exposed aggregate that is installed in most current homes. It looks like small rocks have been place on the path, then rolled into ground to form a flatter service. I would remove and replace with the honed exposed aggregate, as currently installed by many home owners. It is concrete that is laid with the different colours in the concrete mix, then honed for a smooth service, which is kinder on the feet. Or if budget doesn’t allow, then brick pavers will look good as well.
I agree that doesn't look like exposed aggregate. The stones should be set in concrete and while textured it should be comfortable to walk on. It shouldn't deteriorate with age, apart from perhaps some cracks due to movement which can happen with a plain concrete path also.
I've seen plenty of exposed aggregate driveways like these still in good condition older than 20 years.
