Too tidy with no design in our living room
Comments (43)Now it's beginning to work! Luv the rug! A few more red showstoppers, and I luv the post about matting your family pic, and larger frame for it. Looks like you might be a bit uncomfortable with the great post idea of moving your sofa out into the room away from wall. If so, could you accept putting it diagonally from the entrance doorway, across that corner where it is, stopping at the edge of your window? That's a bit of a move outward, still can see the fp and tv, and show off your new rug, which could go diagonally in front of the sofa. Then, if you like that, after a while you could move it on out as Deb K suggests. Sometimes intermediate steps are more doable for us than those big changes.Same with painting; if you could first paint just the fp wall, then later paint other walls...seems some color would really make it more homey. Would you cosider a quite contemporary fixture for the light in the center ceiling? Maybe a bit of red could go there!...See MoreTILES CAN I "HONE" AN INDOOR TILE FOR OUTDOOR USE ONCE COATED ?
Comments (10)Excuse my duh-ness but i'm having difficulty trying to follow whats going on here. Are these two photos an exact replica of your house and pool ? If not a hasty sketch with dimensions could help a lot. By kitchen wall do you mean the wall behind the bar ? And where is the pool wall ? Are you considering the covered area as being "inside" ? Sorry for all those questions lol Sometimes when you have a design problem you need to turn it inside out or on it's head. If you can't beat it maybe embrace it by making a feature of it : i.e. contrast by having the lightest colored pool surround and a great blue or tile inside and under the overhang, something that will echo the water color ? If you have a great covered area as in photo you'll most likely be spending a lot of time there and it could be soothing to be able to sometimes retire into a darker inside. In my book, 10M isn't small and also contrasting two floor colors doesn't necessarily make a space seem smaller and confined and may in fact even open it up. Could it be that you've thought yourself into a box here ? Sometimes one needs to give it all a good shake up and see how it resettles....See MoreWhy Floors Should Be One Of The Most Important Investments

Comments (0)When it comes to home decor, one of the most important elements often overlooked is the choice of blinds. A simple change to your window coverings can have a dramatic impact on the overall look and feel of a room. For those looking to elevate their living room’s design, the addition of high-quality blinds is an excellent solution. Among the various types of window coverings, External Venetian Blinds stand out as an ideal choice, offering not only aesthetic appeal but also practical benefits. In this article, we’ll explore how you can upgrade your living room with stylish and functional blind ideas, focusing on the advantages of External Venetian Blinds, and why Sure Shade is your go-to brand for these premium window solutions. 1. Why Choose External Venetian Blinds? External Venetian Blinds have long been favored by homeowners and interior designers alike for their versatility and sleek design. They are particularly popular for living rooms, as they help create a comfortable atmosphere while enhancing the overall aesthetic of the space. Here's why these blinds are an excellent choice for your living room: Superior Light Control One of the biggest advantages of External Venetian Blinds is their ability to control the amount of natural light entering a room. They allow you to adjust the angle of the slats, giving you complete control over how much light filters into your living room. Whether you prefer a bright, sunlit space or a more subdued, cozy atmosphere, these blinds offer flexibility. The external positioning of these blinds also helps reduce glare and heat from direct sunlight, keeping your living room comfortable all year round. Energy Efficiency In addition to light control, External Venetian Blinds help improve the energy efficiency of your living room. They act as an extra layer of insulation, reducing the amount of heat that enters your home during the summer months and helping to retain warmth in the winter. This insulation can lower your energy bills, making them an eco-friendly and cost-effective choice. Enhanced Privacy and Protection External Venetian Blinds are also designed to provide better privacy compared to their internal counterparts. Since they are positioned on the exterior of your windows, they block the view from outside while still allowing you to enjoy the outside scenery. These blinds also offer protection against UV rays, preventing your furniture and artwork from fading due to prolonged sun exposure. 2. Choosing the Right Style for Your Living Room Now that you understand the benefits of External Venetian Blinds, the next step is to choose the right style to complement your living room's design. Sure Shade offers a wide range of styles and finishes to suit various tastes and interior themes. Classic Aluminum Blinds If you’re looking for a sleek and modern design, classic aluminum Venetian Blinds are the perfect option. Available in various colors and finishes, they add a contemporary touch to your living room. Aluminum blinds are durable, lightweight, and easy to maintain, making them an ideal choice for high-traffic areas. Wooden Venetian Blinds For those who prefer a more natural, warm aesthetic, wooden Venetian Blinds are an excellent choice. These blinds bring a touch of elegance to your living room, adding texture and depth to the space. Wooden blinds also pair well with a variety of furniture styles, from rustic to contemporary, making them a versatile option for any design scheme. Modern Faux Wood Blinds Faux wood blinds are an affordable alternative to traditional wooden blinds, offering the same stylish appearance without the higher price tag. These blinds are made from composite materials, making them durable, moisture-resistant, and easy to clean. Faux wood External Venetian Blinds are perfect for those seeking the look of wood without the upkeep. 3. Maximizing the Impact of Your Living Room’s Design When integrating External Venetian Blinds into your living room, it’s important to consider how they can enhance the overall decor. Here are some ideas on how to maximize the impact of these blinds: Coordinate with Your Color Scheme The color of your External Venetian Blinds should complement the existing color scheme of your living room. Lighter colors, such as white or beige, can make the space feel more open and airy, while darker tones like charcoal or navy blue add sophistication and drama. Sure Shade offers a variety of colors, so you can easily match the blinds to your furniture, walls, and accents. Layer with Curtains or Drapes For an added layer of texture and warmth, consider layering your Venetian Blinds with curtains or drapes. This combination works particularly well in living rooms that need extra softness or a more luxurious feel. Choose curtains that match your blinds’ color or opt for contrasting hues to create a bold statement. Play with Different Textures Blinds are not just about functionality – they also contribute to the texture of your living room. The sleek, smooth finish of Venetian Blinds pairs beautifully with plush sofas, textured rugs, and woven baskets. By mixing different textures in your living room, you create a visually appealing and dynamic space that feels cozy and inviting. Add Decorative Elements To make your living room feel more personalized, consider adding decorative elements around your External Venetian Blinds. This could include placing indoor plants, artwork, or sculptures near the windows. These additions can draw attention to the blinds while enhancing the overall decor of your living room. 4. Maintenance Tips for Long-Lasting Style One of the main reasons why External Venetian Blinds are such a great investment is their durability. However, like any home feature, they require some basic maintenance to keep them looking their best. Here are a few tips to ensure your blinds continue to enhance your living room for years to come: Regular Cleaning To keep your External Venetian Blinds looking pristine, it’s important to clean them regularly. Dust and dirt can accumulate on the slats, so use a microfiber cloth or a soft duster to wipe them down. If your blinds are particularly dirty, you can use a mild detergent solution and a sponge to give them a more thorough clean. Check for Damages Periodically inspect your blinds for any signs of wear or damage, such as bent slats or broken cords. If you notice any issues, it's best to address them promptly to prevent further damage. Sure Shade offers repair services for any issues you may encounter, ensuring your blinds stay in top condition. Avoid Harsh Chemicals When cleaning your External Venetian Blinds, avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the surface or finish. Stick to gentle cleaning solutions to preserve the quality of the materials. 5. Conclusion Upgrading your living room with External Venetian Blinds from Sure Shade is a smart way to enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of your space. With their superior light control, energy efficiency, and privacy benefits, these blinds offer a perfect solution for modern living rooms.
