Grey theatre room needs some colour

last year

I've just moved house and need some help decorating this room.This sofa and ottoman are the only furniture in room at the moment as TV will be wall mounted. How I can I brighten up the room? Colourful floor rug, throw rug, cushions or even wall art? If so what colours? Such a dreary room as the moment!

Choose a colour you love, artwork , cushions, throws, a textured rug, artwork is a personal choice, choose a piece you absolutely love and go from there.

It's a rental so buy something that you can take with you that will work in your next home. Just stay with green and white. You may not be able to change the panels, but you could add to them where it can't be seen from the outside. Add white to the outer side of the blue panels. Then get a navy and white throw pillow for the accent on the white sofa.

I like the concrete bloc walls. They are becoming quite fashionable today. I'd keep them in the natural concrete color or if they have been painted, a color paint that resembles concrete. The concrete walls give a hard and cold impression so I'd choose wood flooring for the floors. The combination of a warm wood on the floor and hard, cold concrete on the walls is a nice one. Brighten the space with colorful modern art.

I would use a bookcase unit with closed doors on the lower half and not too high. Wide and low maybe. Closed lower cabinets are great for toys, games and will not clutter. Open shelves tend to get cluttered after a while. When displaying books, use in stacks standing and lying down. Open space between groupings, not all lined up in rows. Add some decor items sprinkled among the books to give the eye a visual break. I would choose a horizontal art piece for the chair wall. Add some art on the long TV wall leaving a lot of bare wall between the TV . and the artwork between the corners of the chair wall and the window wall.

I would suggest adding a touch of contemporary sophistication with a statement metal artwork.

The metallic hues would lift and brighten the room, add a touch of luxury, and the uniqueness of it would be a great conversation starter

Adding a bit of copper for warmth would look lovely
