Your pantry is very tight to work in. Even with doors open you have sections closed in. With a depth of 1155 and assuming you want a standard benchtop of 600ish to give yourself room to work on it, you’re left with 550. You won’t be able to open cupboard doors in the closed sections which is half your pantry. Where is the wall oven and coffee station on your current plan?

I dont have any suggestions for layout but would really recommend against pocket doors, most companies won't offer warranties on them because they are so prone to problems. All it takes is one person to open it slightly out of line and you have scratches all over the door

Can you show more of the plan to give a better understanding of the whole space.

Thanks for the good points. The architects concept is that the pantry is generally open but can be closed up - it’s not for working in with the doors closed.
Current plan doesn’t have any area for wall oven but coffee station would be next to the fridge in the pantry I’d say

Thank you for the answers. Even with the doors open you don’t have enough room to access the outer ares of the pantry which includes the rather essential fridge. You need to go back to the drawing board, consider bi-fold doors or no doors. You’ve expressed a wish for a wall oven but your architect hasn’t included this on the plans. You also want a coffee station but if you put this in the pantry there’s no water source and it will cut into your prep space. You need to get this sorted. On paper your architect is doing a poor job of kitchen design and meeting your needs. Kate’s rough sketch answers most of your wants and does away with the poor door concept on the pantry.

• Bigreader - we haven’t sat down with our architects yet to discuss the kitchen, currently concentrating on externals and front of house. I posted as I’m wanting some ideas to go back to them with - appreciate your contribution.

We’re building an extension to a 4 room double fronted brick Victorian - I haven’t included front of the house as the plans have changed since this version.

Without knowing how those passage ways connect to the rest of the house the following idea doesn't have a WIP but does have a food cooking prep zone and can be closed off with two sets of Retractable doors when not using, This allows you to have access to the sink and DW when cleaning up and only having 2 door panels open, hence covering any cooking mess A small sink in the island works for family wanting drinking water and for making coffee.
