my building is covering 1meter wide hardwood stairs, if i remove that 250mm gap in this stairs, then architect told no landing areas posisble and triange steps only. that 250mm should be added in living easily by architect as i am in final stage of plan. but i want this 250mm to be added in pantry area. but Architect is arguing cannot do in this stage as all parts are fixed otherwise it will be a variation. during concept plan this gap is not mentioned so i told its not something i am changing now. disappointing the way they do like this
Th concept plan, is just that, a concept plan. Once you start getting correct hallway width, Australian standard stair levels, you then were given this plan. I would not fill in the gap. You said that you are having a glass balustrade. It will be something like the attached photo, with your stairs having the two extra steps at direction change then another flight of stairs. But, the 250mm gap would look similar to this photo. How often are you going to clean the balustrade? There are a lot of cleaning utensils available. Keeping the stairs free of a solid visual obstruction.
