Should I put color in my room/house?
Comments (10)Thank you for your help, I had never questioned my taste until a recent visitor commented on my lack of color! I like the look of the mongolian lambs wool cushions-have not seen here in New Zealand, I will have to search. Thanks for the reminder about mirror, it mostly does reflect the dresser but yes the doors are focal too, I hadn't noticed. I used to have more height on the living area coffee table but when I removed the Television and hung the vintage ceiling tiles (photo attached) on the wall the height interrupted them from another angle (not photographed). Our house is located semi rural with bush and water views, with this being quite focal in the lounge (with the wall paper) which is why I have not hung art. With this (as photographed below) would you still hang something? Really appreciate you all taking the time to answer. Thanks....See MoreHelp with Corner
Comments (4)What a gorgeous area, I would give it a conservatory feel. Leave the tiles to define the area. I note she has a rattan tub chair ?? I would move that to that corner, find it a mate, move other cane and rattan accessories to there, add a small round table and some lush plants. The tub chair looks like it would double as a lounge chair as well as a dining chair for breakfast or casual lunches. Sorry I can't find photos, everything is for much larger areas....See MoreHelp ideas for this view!
Comments (11)How about some stunning black wall sconce lights along the wall? Here's a very contemporary example... The soft grey is an excellent option, and will look stunning with green foliage against it. To give it a real 'look' I'd suggest installing some kind of black feature - whether this be painting the window frame & putting shutters either side, or the sconce lights, or a modern metal artwork. Perhaps even tall black plant pots either side of the window....See MoreHelp! Needing ideas for awkward corner in kitchen
Comments (3)Hi Helen. I thought I might share photos of my kitchen- which happens to be on a farm- as the layout is very similar to yours. We planned to do white subway tiles (and still might as we are just doing the bathrooms with the tiles and will see what we have left...) but used clear coated cement board as a temporary measure and find it quite serviceable as we haven't finished the kitchen. We did the open shelves first and then added bits and pieces of shelving afterwards. These are white washed Douglas Fir. The shelves just below the temporary ply bench top (going to do polished concrete benchtops later) are lined with galvanised tin. The lazy Susan in the corner cupboards are really handy! Hope these photos might be of interest. It's a very serviceable kitchen work in progress!...See MoreJudyG Designs
