Sorgfältig ausgewählte Materialien wie die heimische Eiche, Lehmputz an den Wänden sowie eine Holzakustikdecke prägen dieses Interior. Hier wurde nichts dem Zufall überlassen, sondern alles integriert sich harmonisch. The project was the result of a highly collaborative design process between the client and architect. This collaboration led to a design outcome which prioritised light, expanding volumes and increasing connectivity both within the home and out to the garden. Within the complex original plan, rational solutions were found to make sense of late twentieth century extensions and underutilised spaces. Compartmentalised spaces have been reprogrammed to allow for generous open plan living. A series of internal voids were used to promote social connection across and between floors, while introducing new light into the depths of the home.

A Victorian terrace with built in alcoves either side of the fireplace so to balance the space we added the same green to 'hug' around the sofa and make it feel warmer.

The open plan living room in this flat is light and bright, and the white oiled oak floor & Carl Hansen Wegner chairs contrast with the original Georgian fire surround, cornice and skirting boards. The contemporary walnut sideboard sits happily next to the mid-century armchair & original Georgian fire surround. Plaster wall lights, a large table lamp and a multi bulb pendant provide layers of light when required.
