Había que convertir una vivienda muy grande, pensada para una única familia, en dos áreas que se adaptasen a las necesidades de cada nueva familia, conservando la calidad del edificio original. Era un ejercicio de acupuntura, tocando solo lo necesario, adaptándolo a los nuevos gustos, y mejorando lo existente con un presupuesto ajustado. En la foto se ve la terraza de la planta ático, que se reconfiguró como terraza del salón, en concreto la zona de estar con el jardín vertical de fondo.

To brighten and warm the room, the ceiling between the lower ground floor and the ground floor was removed, allowing the south-facing light to flow through the front of the house. A sculptural staircase was added to connect the living room and the hallway.

A young family of four, have commissioned FPA to extend their steep roofed cottage in the suburban town of Purley, Croydon. This project offers the opportunity to revise and refine concepts and principles that FPA had outlined in the design of their house extension project in Surbiton and similarly, here too, the project is split into two separate sub-briefs and organised, once again, around two distinctive new buildings. The side extension is monolithic, with hollowed-out apertures and finished in dark painted render to harmonise with the somber bricks and accommodates ancillary functions. The back extension is conceived as a spatial sun and light catcher. An architectural nacre piece is hung indoors to "catch the light" from nearby sources. A precise study of the sun path has inspired the careful insertion of openings of different types and shapes to direct one's view towards the outside. The new building is articulated by 'pulling' and 'stretching' its edges to produce a dramatic sculptural interior. The back extension is clad with three-dimensional textured timber boards to produce heavy shades and augment its sculptural properties, creating a stronger relationship with the mature trees at the end of the back garden.

Vanessa et Yann ont vécu 2 ans et demi de travaux pour rénover intégralement cette maison. Une fois l'agrandissement et la surélévation pour créer un étage supplémentaire achevés, WherDeco s'est occupé de la décoration et des finitions. Vanessa avait envie de nature, d'un ensemble harmonieux et sain qui fait la part belle à la nature et au vert. WherDeco lui a donné des conseils couleurs pour savoir choisir les bonnes nuances de peinture, lui a fait quelques plans 3D pour lui permettre de se projeter et a établi la shopping list qui a permis de donner une seconde vie à cette maison.

Debido a su antigüedad, los diferentes espacios del piso se derriban para articular un proyecto de reforma integral, de 190m2, enfocado a resaltar la presencia del amplio pasillo, crear un salón extenso e independiente del comedor, y organizar el resto de estancias. Desde una espaciosa cocina con isla, dotada de una zona contigua de lavadero, hasta dos habitaciones infantiles, con un baño en común, y un dormitorio principal en formato suite, acompañado también por su propio cuarto de baño y vestidor. The experience was designed to begin as residents approach the development, we were asked to evoke the Art Deco history of local Paddington Station which starts with a contrast chevron patterned floor leading residents through the entrance. This architectural statement becomes a bold focal point, complementing the scale of the lobbies double height spaces. Brass metal work is layered throughout the space, adding touches of luxury, en-keeping with the development. This starts on entry, announcing ‘Paddington Exchange’ inset within the floor. Subtle and contemporary vertical polished plaster detailing also accentuates the double-height arrival points . A series of black and bronze pendant lights sit in a crossed pattern to mirror the playful flooring. The central concierge desk has curves referencing Art Deco architecture, as well as elements of train and automobile design. Completed at HLM Architects
