Adorable 1930s cottage - set in a lovely quiet area of Dulwich - which had had it's 'soul stolen' by a refurbishment that whitewashed all the spaces and removed all features. The new owners came to us to ask that we breathe life back into what they knew was a house with great potential.
?
The floors were solid and wiring all up to date, so we came in with a concept of 'modern English country' that would feel fresh and contemporary while also acknowledging the cottage's roots.
?
The clients and I agreed that House of Hackney prints and lots of natural colour would be would be key to the concept.
?
Starting with the downstairs, we introduced shaker panelling and built-in furniture for practical storage and instant character, brought in a fabulous F&B wallpaper, one of my favourite green paints (Windmill Lane by @littlegreenepaintcompany ) and mixed in lots of vintage furniture to make it feel like an evolved home.

Luxury living room design by April Hamilton Interiors. Bespoke sofas and cushions.

Living room refurbishment and timber window seat as part of the larger refurbishment and extension project.

A contrast to the cosy snug, this second living room was light and airy and had fabulous views of the garden. To create that connection to the outside views I chose this lovely floaty fabric with leaf detail print and painted the walls a very pale grey green colour. It felt fresh and light.

We completed this living room (unfurnished) for our client's lovely arts and crafts style property.

The brief - Simply to create a modern contemporary open living and dining space fit for a young, but growing family.
A modern geometric treatment was chosen perfectly to suit. Soft taupe grey raised print metallic wallpaper creates a gentle but statement feature finish. The pastel pink velvet accent chair adds a little luxury and a quiet area for reading. Earthy chunky wooden flooring brings outdoor texture in, practicality and is balanced with a light grey cool paint. The wood burner is a cosy addition and great example of how they work well in an alternative room scheme to traditional country. A large comfy corner grey sofa caters for all the family, whilst adding warmth. Styled with lot’s of geometric elements and accessories to finish off the treatment.
