The cladding material for the fireplace is cold rolled steel panels custom fabricated fit by the contractor and adhered to the drywall substrate with a strong adhesive. The finish is a patina product made by Sculpt Nouveau (Japanese Brown) http://www.sculptnouveau.com/. It took some experimentation with the contractor to get this finish just right.
