is this uplighting on top of the wood center? Is wood center suspended from ceiling a bit?

nice simple and clean. only the inside ceiling of the tray is white

could just do 6 boxes with vertical boards of sapele

option for the basement? Contains both up light and down light
Q

I like this cloud dropped down in the middle
Q

We could maybe buy sapele strips and clad the entire ceiling tray ceiling

I so much more prefer this clean look instead of a piece of trim, even if it restricts the distance the light can expand onto the ceiling because it is up so close
Q

make a faux ceiling cloud just to give a little drama to an area

I like the wall treatment panels in the ceiling tray. I also like the beefy trim that lines the tray as well as conceals the uplighting. It does limit the range of the illumination on the ceiling though.

could do this in Brad's study tray and place directional spot lights to light his desk
Q

cover the ceiling tray with something?
Q

Could I do this look with a wide bottom "L" trim piece and a moderate up piece?
Q

Steel panels on ceiling

love the dropped boxes!

Way cool ceiling feature

ceiling cloud. Nice reversal to lower the ceiling to create a cozier feel. Still like the uplighting

just lined with a wood trim
Q

plain tray just painted an accent color

Example of a recessed tray that is just a box. It does add a bulkhead feeling and a little extra height and drama, but does not have a double overlapping ceiling or floating feeling.
Q

Still my favorite look. This also make it look like two overlapping ceilings rather than just a box inside the main ceiling

Simple trim that is angled but no funky molding to hide uplights.
