For whatever reason the info out there on hot tubs is a bit confusing. Hopefully I can help answer some questions here.

Here are some things to consider:

How much space do I have? - Most premium spa brands have spas that range from 5 x 6.5' (2-3 adults) to 8 x 8' (up to 8 adults) or so. If your space is confined in any way go measure. Be sure to leave open access to one side, roughly 2' for access to the equipment and steps. If you want to use a cover lifter leave 18" of free space on the side opposite the steps. The other 2 sides can be pretty tight to the spa.
What's my budget? - Most good brands have spas ranging from about $4000 to $15000. Most spas that cost less than this are pretty poor in quality and don't last and/or use a lot of energy to keep them warm.
Where do I want to buy? - In the hot tub marketplace almost all quality spas are sold through dedicated local hot tub stores. Be careful with the spas found online, at big box stores or at travelling shows. They usually just aren't very good quality and/or don't offer good local support for service.
How long do I want to keep my hot tub? - Basically, you get what you pay for in many respects. A quality spa can last 10 years or more. A poor quality spa can be pretty sad in a few years. Many spas are still made with wood or metal frames and non-solid bases. Obviously, wood won't last as long around humidity and weather. You don't see this when you're shopping so it's good to research it a bit. Look for spas with a frame made of ABS or other composite material.
How much is my hot tub going to cost to operate? - Quality spas with full foam insulation and other advances will use much less energy and cost you less over time.
Which hot tub looks the best and feels most comfortable? - Only you can determine this. We like some of our designs of course ;)
How easy it it to maintain? - Hot tubs do require care. It's the trade off for having warm relaxing water always at the ready. Most spas use a chlorine sanitizer. This is simple to do once you do it a few times. There are a few other natural sanitizers used as well. There are some additional features that can minimize your water care time greatly. Ozone sanitation, an automatic process built into your spa, is one of the best ways to minimize your need for chemical sanitizers.
Where do I shop? - As I mentioned above, the majority of quality spas are sold through dedicated spa or outdoor living stores. Here's a link to places that sell our brand. Of course, we encourage you to shop around and find the spa dealer and brand you're most comfortable with.

I'm of course biased towards our brand but I'll be happy to provide suggestions on other top brands. There are several out there that also make really great products and I think you'll find Bullfrog Spas are on most non-biased lists of top quality hot tubs.
