sealing bottom of bathtub - Who do you seal the bottom of the tub to the tile so no water will seep in over time? 1 Like 3 Comments Hide comments PRO Riddle Construction and Design This whole wet room is enclosed in a Wedi system for the pan and the walls. The only penetrations below the tub are for the drain and water lines which have sikaflex sealant around them. We also sloped the tile away from the penetrations as much as possible and caulked around the outside edge of the tub for a bit more protection. The tub sits on top of the tile. Tricky but really no different than the drain penetration in a tile shower base. 1 Like Bookmark March 15, 2015 at 11:45AM taffy13 Thank you so much for the info! (just realized autocorrect changed my "How" to "who" @@) I'm doing the same layout and am being told there's no way to seal tub that's next to shower so that water will not seep through. 1 Like Bookmark March 15, 2015 at 9:01PM taffy13 ahh, just realized you said the only penetrations are drain and water line. Mine is a back to wall freestanding tub, so a two inch rim around bottom, but basically no back and no bottom aside from the two inch rim. Maybe that's th...
linear drain on back wall and raised platform to contain drain system? Is there a raised curb area at the entrance to the tub shower area? - We are building a similar wet room area. We want a clean open look that is functional. We are making a step up from a vanity toilet area with a raised wetroom that has a shower with a lined drain and a free standing tub. Should the whole area with the tub and shower be raised in order to accommodate the sloping linedrain and if so should there be a raised curb area to contain any possible backup or spillage from the shower/wet room area? If so would this raised cub be a visual and or physical obstacle for the open clean look we are trying to achieve. I am looking forward to hearing your perspective on designing this area. For a clean look, no 'curb' was included.
