So far this is the only photo I can find with what seems to be a similar difference in the heights of the beam in a coffered ceiling -- looks to be about 6" (your drawing showed the range of 112" to 106" I think) obviously this is the wrong pattern/color but is that the idea?

Just sitting in my first floor is a giveaway that I love this light green/blue color (it's everywhere). But I'm not sure I'd want to tie cabinetry to it in the kitchen -- seems too permanent. That said, I love that this family had the guts to do it!
