Key to working efficiently in Kitchen!
a full wall of cabinets and appliances: a wall oven with a microwave above it, an induction cooktop, the dishwasher and the sink (to the right of the dishwasher). An induction range-- frees up storage space for pots and pans beneath it. Counter space around the range provides room for food prep. The tall cabinet at left past the ovens is a food pantry with pullout shelving....Tall narrow cabinets that pull out completely to see canned goods and boxed items.
Dedicated broom closets. It takes a lot to keep a home looking clean: brooms, brushes, mops, dusters, Swiffers, cleaning supplies. And finding space to keep these things organized while always at the ready shouldn’t be an afterthought. That’s why homeowners are gravitating toward a dedicated broom closet or cabinet. Clever rollouts and design tactics that make use of slim spaces, such as the inches between the side of a fridge and a wall, can turn out highly functional storage units for cleaning tools.
The key to keeping your counters neat is to put in place organizational systems from the start — which means spending a little extra on the small details. Accessories such as cutlery and tray dividers, roll-out shelves, lid organizers, spice storage and bread drawers are the kinds of things you may not wish to pay for now but likely will appreciate over the years. I recommend that you take careful stock of how you live and work in your kitchen and then find the right accessories that will make this hardworking space more enjoyable. Here are a few suggestions to keep kitchen clutter at bay:
The last thing you want after putting all your time and money into a kitchen remodel is to find out that your efforts didn’t do much to curb your clutter habits. The dish soap and sponges appear once again next to the sink. The toaster gets used and never put away. Unopened wine bottles accumulate on the counter. To prevent those kinds of scenarios, think strategically about your storage, no matter which room you’re remodeling, and put relatively affordable innovations such as drawer inserts and rollouts to good use. Here are a few of my favorite storage solutions for kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms.
Normandy Remodeling SaveEmail Drawer inside the trash drawer. Trash drawers are a well-known solution for organization within the kitchen. However, adding a drawer inside the trash drawer (where there is usually wasted space above the cans) is an inventive, hidden way to store things such as trash bags, oven mitts and hand towels.
Ease of use. If you cook often, one of the trickiest and yet most common tasks is sweeping away the remnants from chopping. You can carefully carry a chopping board to the bin, or you can bring the bin to the chopping board. Locating your garbage or compost pullout below a chopping zone means you can sweep waste directly into the bin with ease.
The island features an integrated cutting board and trash bins creating a functional workspace.
