In a tight bathroom space, it can be tricky to balance a demand for storage with a desire for space to breathe. A floating vanity is a great answer. It gives you lots of room to store daily essentials, but the peek of flooring underneath makes the area feel a notch more open. Modern chrome grab bars provide extra security when entering and exiting the shower area. The raised height toilet pan makes for easier use, and the furniture offers cupboard and worktop space. This bathroom would be suitable for an older or less able person, as well as the rest of their family.

In a U-shape kitchen, plan for 60 inches of clearance minimum between opposing counters. This allows a wheelchair to have a comfortable turning radius.

The Bensons use the shower to wash their large dog, so having a hand spray option was essential. “I like how the bar moves up and down, it gives you flexibility,” Kasey says. The satin brass finish adds style and coordinates with the brass elements in the vanity area.
