We visited Christchurch from Virginia, USA in 2010 and we loved the city. The botanical gardens, the downtown mall, the cathedral and the proper school near the park. I am glad to hear good things are prevailing in a part of the world touched by tragedy. Right on you!

This is heart warming. A great example for all of us living in places where nature has showed its ugly face.

I'm only sad for my fellow citizens in Athens, Greece, who, almost after 17 yrs from the big Athens earthquake, they still live in shipping containers... Greece's economy was thriving in 1999, don't even want to imagine what would happen to people if such a quake hit now that the government cannot afford to repair ambulances or hire stuff for them...

We visited Christchurch from Texas USA in 2007 or 2008 and fell in love with it. We lost our home in Oklahoma USA (before moving to Texas) in 1999 from a tornado. It is devastating but you must move on. I can relate with the people of Christchurch and am so happy to see these pictures and hear rebuilding stories. I would love to go back to NZ but am unable to because of cancer. I will never forget beautiful Christchurch and the awesome people of New Zealand! Keep rebuilding!
