Weekend DIY: A Pretty and Playful Paper Pompom
This quick and easy craft project will get your house in the mood to party all year round
I love craft projects that can be done quickly and for little money. These darling paper pompoms fall into that category. These pompoms have made their way around the blogosphere as decorations for special occasions from showers and parties to weddings and birthdays. But they can easily translate to home decor too. They add a playful element to any room, and they aren’t just for hanging from the ceiling, either. Here’s my easy-to-make take on this fun idea.
Fold the accordion-folded tissue in half and tie tightly. I used twine, but you can also use wire or pipe cleaners. Just be sure to twist tightly.

If you used wire or pipe cleaners to secure the centre of your pompom, attach some twine to it to suspend it from.
Once your pompom is hung, adjust the layers until you’re happy with the look.
I hung my pompom with pieces of fine tulle I had on hand.
If you want the illusion of the pompom floating in mid-air, use fishing line.

To use these pretty paper blooms on flat surfaces, just pull the tissue layers open to one side only so one side of the pompom remains flat. This way they can be used as wall art, tabletop decor, or tied to chair backs for a party.
Smaller versions of these pompoms can be used as gift toppers too – the possibilities go on and on.
