Interiors With A View
Taking down a wall between the kitchen and an unused dining room expanded the kitchen by 10' this created a space that was more in keeping with the clients lifestyle. Using the expanded space as an open homework area the whole family can be together.

We love this 2 tone cabinet setup that features a tall wine cabinet. This area makes it simple to serve meals during the holidays.

In dining room we recovered the Greenes' strong horizontal emphasis and warm ambiance. Paneling and trim are Honduran mahogany. Alcove was added in 1931. To better integrate it with the room we added posts, benchs and paneling. Art glass sconces and lantern are reproductions made on-site by craftsman Glen Stewart. Cameron Carothers photo

I worked with David Kuznitz to design the millwork and beams, Henry Means did the iron straps, Ted Ellison did the Stained Glass, Sam Mossaedi made the wall sconce and DR fixture. The rugs under the DR table is from Tufenkian, the foreground rug is Tiger Rug. I worked with Brian Kawal to design the dining chairs and Brian created the DR table in mahogany. All woodwork is bleached walnut. THe floors are maple

A lovely small one story bungalow in the arts and craft style was the original house.
An addition of an entire second story and a portion to the back of the house to accommodate a growing family, for a 4 bedroom 3 bath new house family room and music room.
The owners a young couple from central and South America, are movie producers
The addition was a challenging one since we had to preserve the existing kitchen from a previous remodel and the old and beautiful original 1901 living room.
The stair case was inserted in one of the former bedrooms to access the new second floor.
The beam structure shown in the stair case and the master bedroom are indeed the structure of the roof exposed for more drama and higher ceilings.
The interiors where a collaboration with the owner who had a good idea of what she wanted.

Our dining room table, chairs, bench seat and side board were custom made for us from Home and Timber in Michigan. With a lovely, rich, cherry finish, and a Japanese flair, we married it with the Corona chandelier from Hubbardton Forge. The room is also illuminated with the Stasis Lamp by Hubbardton, and we figured enough seating for Thanksgiving dinner! The room is rich in color and fabrics, and inviting us to sit down for meals to come! Craftsman Four Square, Seattle, WA, Belltown Design, Photography by Julie Mannell.

The dining area adjacent to the kitchen was designated with a feature pendant light, and classic tulip-style table.
