The owners of this home came to us with a plan to build a new high-performance home that physically and aesthetically fit on an infill lot in an old well-established neighborhood in Bellingham. The Craftsman exterior detailing, Scandinavian exterior color palette, and timber details help it blend into the older neighborhood. At the same time the clean modern interior allowed their artistic details and displayed artwork take center stage.
We started working with the owners and the design team in the later stages of design, sharing our expertise with high-performance building strategies, custom timber details, and construction cost planning. Our team then seamlessly rolled into the construction phase of the project, working with the owners and Michelle, the interior designer until the home was complete.
The owners can hardly believe the way it all came together to create a bright, comfortable, and friendly space that highlights their applied details and favorite pieces of art.

All the wood in the house, including wood work, built in cabinetry, furniture, windows, and the floor, was cleaned and/or refinished to remove decades of wear. Furniture was reupholstered.

The living spaces in this home were designed with a great room concept in mind and easily flow in and out of one another. The living room features a floor to ceiling rocked in fireplace with it's hearth extending the entire width of the room creating great spaces for reading, storing wood, or even keeping the tv as these home owners have done!

FINAL RESULT - We did NOT sand these beams to get down to the wood. We painted over them. We loved the finished product, but more importantly, so does our client.

Named after the "Craftsman" style furniture of Gustav Stickley, who introduced and perfected the fuming process in the US, our fumed oak flooring follows the same ideals...simplicity, honesty in construction, and truth to materials.
Although we use a different process, the result is remarkable!

Everything Home
Our studio gave this home a fresh, inviting remodel. In the kitchen, we combined modern appliances and clean lines with a rustic touch using bright wood, burnished bronze fittings, and geometric tiles. A unique extension on one end of the kitchen island adds extra space for cooking and dining. The living room fireplace got a stunning art deco makeover with deep wood trim, Rookwood-style tilework, and vintage decor. In the bathroom, intriguing geometry, a light palette, and a shaded window create a luxe vibe, while the double sink and plentiful storage make it incredibly functional.
