This 900 square foot freeform Infinity Edge Swimming pool and 60 square foot Infinity Edge Hot Tub sits right on the water. The pool infinity edge is 30 feet in length, and is finished in tile. The spa infinity edge is also finished in tile and spills into the pool. Limestone coping on swimming pool and spa finish the perimeter. Laminar flow water features and fire bowls with waterfall features on columns give a dramatic flair to the scene. There is even an oversized water slide for the kids. Photography by Larry Huene

A vanishing edge pool and waterfall are focal points for a constraint-driven project governed by a wetlands and associated no-build zone, extensive rock outcrops, steep slopes, and a small, tough-to-access work area. A team of consultants was required in order to obtain variances and other approvals across multiple agencies and meetings. The end result is a beautiful outdoor living space that expresses the architecture and utility of the owner's home into a highwater garden for relaxation and enjoyment.

The Design Review Board felt strongly enough about the design that they allowed the breech of height limits as well as overall length limitations of certain massing elements. They did, however, require a break in the roof line at a primary patio. The overlapping roof lines maintained patio coverage despite the roof line break.

The visual negative edge is created by adding a low tempered glass wall on top of the spill wall. When viewed from across the pool it looks like water is flowing over the edge. To maintain the look, it’s important to keep the water level close to the top of the wall. This is assured with the Betz automatic water leveller.

Beautiful modern pool project in Southlake, TX designed by Mike Farley. It has a large cabana with a outdoor kitchen and fireplace. The hillside was terraced to create different gathering areas. The desire for great water features resulted in the back of the fire feature creating an awesome sound with a water wall and the cabana bench back created a spot for the sheer descents. The lush tropical plantings accented with raised planters and synthetic grass provide privacy with the neighbors and will grow into paradise. Constructed by Claffey Pools & landscape by Joey Designs. The client's came to us wanting a design that was going to open up their small backyard and give them somewhere for their family to enjoy and entertain for many years to come.
This project presented many technical challenges due to the levels required to comply with various building regulations. Clever adaptations such privacy screens, floating deck entry and hidden pool gate behind the raised feature wall were all design elements that make this project more suitable to the smaller area.
The main design feature that was a key to the functionality of this pool was the raised infinity edge, with the pool wall designed to comply with current pool barrier standards. With no pool fence between the pool and house the space appears more open with the noise of the water falling over the edge into a carefully concealed balance tank adding a very tranquil ambience to the outdoor area.
With the accompanying fire pit and sitting area, this space not only looks amazing but is functional all year round and the low maintenance fully automated pool cleaning system provides easy operation and maintenance.
