The terrace was an unfinished space with load-bearing columns in traffic areas. We add eight “faux” columns and beams to compliment and balance necessary existing ones. The new columns and beams hide structural necessities, and as shown with this bar, they help define different areas. This is needed so they help deliver the needed symmetry. The columns are wrapped in mitered, reclaimed wood and accented with steel collars around their crowns, thus becoming architectural elements.

The family room area in this basement features a whitewashed brick fireplace with custom mantle surround, custom builtins with lots of storage and butcher block tops. Navy blue wallpaper and brass pop-over lights accent the fireplace wall. The elevated bar behind the sofa is perfect for added seating. Behind the elevated bar is an entertaining bar with navy cabinets, open shelving and quartz countertops.

The tv viewing area of the lower level has plenty of seating for a big game. The wall of windows overlooks the lake and makes this basement feel light and sunny every day of the year.

This gaming area in the basement doubles as a guest space with custom murphy bed pull downs. When the murphy beds are up they blend into the custom white wainscoting in the space and serve as a "drink shelf" for entertaining.

The basement game room has an adjoining closet that the owner turned into a game closet and painted a moss green. The sideboard formerly served as the kitchen island when the owner purchased the cabin, but she had the idea that it could be used in this closet. The duck decoy lamp also came with the cabin when the owner purchased it, but she repurposed it from a bedroom and added a vintage Planters Cocktail Peanuts trash can to serve as a planter for dried hydrangeas atop the game sideboard. The vintage wine poster is a family piece from Italy.
