This Grant Park house was built in 1999. With that said, this bathroom was dated, builder grade with a tiny shower (3 ft x 3 ft) and a large jacuzzi-style 90s tub. The client was interested in a much larger shower, and he really wanted a sauna if squeeze it in there. Because this bathroom was tight, I decided we could potentially go into the large walk-in closet and expand to include a sauna. The client was looking for a refreshing coastal theme, a feel good space that was completely different than what existed. A large steam shower was the main request for this remodeled Master bath. By eliminating the corner tub and repositioning the vanities side by side these clients gained a soothing steam shower and a gracious amount of storage.

Keeping the integrity of the existing style is important to us — and this Rio Del Mar cabin remodel is a perfect example of that. For this special bathroom update, we preserved the essence of the original lathe and plaster walls by using a nickel gap wall treatment. The decorative floor tile and a pebbled shower call to mind the history of the house and its beach location. The marble counter, and custom towel ladder, add a natural, modern finish to the room that match the homeowner's unique designer flair.
