Pink, aqua and purple are colours they both love, and had already been incorporated into their existing decor, so we used those colours as the starting point and went from there. In the bathroom, the Victorian walls are high and the natural light levels low. The many small rooms were demolished and one larger open plan space created. The pink terrazzo tiling unites the room and makes the bathroom space feel more inviting and less cavernous. ‘Fins’ are used to define the functional spaces (toilet, laundry, vanity, shower). They also provide an architectural detail to tie in the Victorian window and ceiling heights with the 80s extension that is just a step outside the bathroom.

Contemporary Master ensuite designed for a new build. The client requested a space which was extremely luxurious and held an atmosphere similar to a spa or hotel. We met this brief by choosing high-end finishes such as brass for the shower and taps which combined beautifully with the rich terrazzo and contemporary marble wall tiles. The spacious shower, freestanding bath and bespoke vanity unit with countertop sink add another level of luxury to the space.

This small bathroom was completely transformed into a show stopper! Black and white colours. Terrazzo floor tile with a tileable drain. White subway installed vertically gives a more contemporary look and young look to the room. Black fixtures, vanity and framed shower door completes this bold but yet timeless renovation project.

Coastal Cool Bathroom

This little coastal bathroom is full of fun surprises. The NativeTrails shell vessel sink is our star. The blue toned herringbone shower wall tiles are interesting and lovely. The blues bring out the blue chips in the terrazzo flooring which reminds us of a sandy beach. The half glass panel keeps the room feeling spacious and open when bathing. The herringbone pattern on the beachy wood floating vanity connects to the shower pattern. We get a little bling with the copper mirror and vanity hardware. Fun baskets add a tidy look to the open linen closet. A once dark and generic guest bathroom has been transformed into a bright, welcoming, and beachy space that makes a statement.

Firstly, consider your space. Is it rectangular or are you working with a long, narrow room? This will determine how many wet walls you can accommodate, and if a bathtub can fit. For example, in a narrow room a freestanding bathtub may not work, and a one-wall layout that lines up shower, toilet and vanity on the same wall will make sense in most cases. (It’s also the most budget-friendly option in terms of plumbing). Maybe separate rooms for toilet and shower make sense? Maybe you want to work with a window above a bathtub or in the shower.
