When a large family renovated a home nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains, all bathrooms received dazzling upgrades, but in a family of three boys and only one girl, the boys must have their own space. This rustic styled bathroom feels like it is part of a fun bunkhouse in the West. We used a beautiful bleached oak for a vanity that sits on top of a multi colored pebbled floor. The swirling iridescent granite counter top looks like a mineral vein one might see in the mountains of Wyoming. We used a rusted-look porcelain tile in the shower for added earthy texture. Contemporary Bonavista Bathroom Remodel with Marmol Venatino Tile Shower

This bathroom remodel was designed by Nicole from our Windham showroom. This remodel features Cabico Essence cabinets with maple wood, Stretto door style (flat panel) and Bonavista (blue paint) finish. This remodel also features LG viatera Quartz countertop with Rococo color and standard edge. This also was used for shelves in the shower. The floor and shower walls is 12” x 24” by Mediterranean with Marmol Venatino color in honed. The shampoo niche is also in the same tile and color but in 2” x 2” size in honed. Other features includes Maax tub in white, Moen chrome faucet, Kohler Caxton white sink, Moen Chrome Showerhead, Moen Chrome Valve Trim, Moen Flara Chrome light fixture, Moen chrome Towel Ring, and Moen chrome double robe hook. The hardware is by Amerock with Chrome Handles and Knobs.

Simple Steps

This transitional bathroom has a metallic mosaic tile, recycled granite and glass counter top and bathtub surround. The copper colored tile is called Liberty Amber and the color is also available in the Metropolis cut and subway tiles. There are more colors in this collection. The counter and bathtub surround is made from a recycled granite and glass with copper flecks that compliment the mosaics, the color is called White Copper. The material is stain resistant, heat resistant, impact resistant and it does not need to be sealed. The material is 1/4" thick and can be placed on top of existing counters or on new cabinets. There are many colors and sizes.

A Nature Inspired Bathroom

The bathroom was transformed with a multitude of materials. Our client has a strong affinity for nature. However, we wanted to maintain a spa feel in the space. Therefore, we incorporated a serene sage green paint on the walls and a stone patterned porcelain on the accent wall in hues of sage, blue and assorted neutrals. These elements combined with the cement tile flooring (also picked up in the shower niche) have a nature-inspired feel without being too literal. The rich stain on the custom vanity and linen cabinet also brings a sense of the outdoors into space while the polished nickel finishes and white color palette throughout create a crisp and sophisticated finish. For example, in a narrow room a freestanding bathtub may not work, and a one-wall layout that lines up shower, toilet and vanity on the same wall will make sense in most cases. (It’s also the most budget-friendly option in terms of plumbing). Maybe separate rooms for toilet and shower make sense? Maybe you want to work with a window above a bathtub or in the shower. You may live in an old house where you can keep some of the original character of the home, or you may be working with a small apartment space. All these considerations are vital in deciding on which layout will work best for you. Have a look at some popular ideas to get started.

2 Consider How You Use Your Bathroom

Once you’ve gathered some inspiration, have a think about who is using the room, and how they will be using it.
