In a dark room with no windows, making the space 1/3 bigger was all about careful color decisions. We went with lighter wall tiles and darker floors to really open it up. The difference is in the details!

Renovation of a dated and very small bathroom where the customer wanted to keep the same layout but re-modernise it. My idea was to create a strong look with using tiles on all surfaces, to make the bathroom look bigger and airy. The grey tiles and white walls and suite create a contemporary look. By contrast the vintage/med style of the tiles and the oak bespoke cubes and wood accessories add warmth and character to this small bathroom.

In March 2017 I was approached by a couple who had recently purchased a property in Lowther Village, a conservation village on the edge of the Lowther Castle estate. The property needed completely refurbishing before it could be used as a second home and holiday let. The property is grade II* listed and in addition to designing and project managing the refurbishment I obtained the listed building consent on their behalf. The application was submitted in May 2017 and approved at the end of July 2017. Work was completed in October 2017 and the property is now available for rental via Cumbrian Cottages.

This mid century modern home, built in 1957, suffered a fire and poor repairs over twenty years ago. A cohesive approach of restoration and remodeling resulted in this newly modern home which preserves original features and brings living spaces into the 21st century. After photos of this classic style bathroom. Not the biggest bathroom, but great use of space to incorporate a full vanity and bathtub. The beautiful gray tile floors and white tile back-splash in the shower goes great together. With little hints of blue tile really make the whole bathroom pop.

The original walk-up attic in this 1950 home was too low and cramped to be of use as a finished space. We engineered a new roof structure that gave us the needed headroom for a master bedroom, his and hers closets, an en-suite laundry and bathroom. The addition follows the original roofline, and so is virtually undetectable from the street. Exposed roof truss structure, corner window and cork floor adds to the mid-century aesthetic. A master retreat that feels very isolated from the rest if the house and creates great living space out of nothing.
