These clients needed a first-floor shower for their medically-compromised children, so extended the existing powder room into the adjacent mudroom to gain space for the shower. The 3/4 bath is fully accessible, and easy to clean - with a roll-in shower, wall-mounted toilet, and fully tiled floor, chair-rail and shower. The gray wall paint above the white subway tile is both contemporary and calming. Multiple shower heads and wands in the 3'x6' shower provided ample access for assisting their children in the shower. The white furniture-style vanity can be seen from the kitchen area, and ties in with the design style of the rest of the home. The bath is both beautiful and functional. In the shower, oval accent tile runs vertically rather than horizontally, breaking up the expanse of white. Chrome rain shower head, massage hand held shower, and chrome fixtures are echoed in the metal edge that surrounds the storage niche, a more modern touch than traditional white bullnose tile.

Bathroom as a continuous landscape at this Brooklyn townhouse. This is the master bathroom, open to the bedroom. The counter over the floating vanity folds down to become the back of the shower bench. The shower integrates with another seat facing into the bedroom at the opposite side. Shower is clad is slabs of white engineered quartz and statuary marble. Separate toilet room behind full height sliding door. We were commissioned to transform a large run-down flat occupying the ground floor and basement of a grand house in Hampstead into a spectacular contemporary apartment. The property was originally built for a gentleman artist in the 1870s who installed various features including the gothic panelling and stained glass in the living room, acquired from a French church. Since its conversion into a boarding house soon after the First World War, and then flats in the 1960s, hardly any remedial work had been undertaken and the property was in a parlous state.
